Have any of you guys tried making Titan Masters on Dianauts? Basically gluing a bot face to their back and swapping the li'l headbot head in place to hook into the big bot properly? I'm curious about the possibility of having a more poseable headbot.

I just grabbed one of each and did a back-to-back comparison. Not sure that would work too well. The head of the Titan Master Bat (don't know his real name) would go from the top of the shoulder of the Dianaut down to around his knees.

So has anyone here modified their Dianauts so that they have swivel biceps yet? I'd like to see what others have done and compare it with my method. I've seen only one other person tackle the project but i'm not sure if the person used a friction fit (pin in a hole) swivel or a mushroom cap (ball and socket) swivel. I'm not comfortable with a friction fit swivel in larger scales let alone Dianaut scale.

I haven't given it much thought recently but the challenge of a structurally sturdy swivel bicep mod has begun to cross my mind again.

Have not modded a Dianaut with a bicep swivel. Seems like a lot of work for not a lot of gain.

My guess is you would pin it, but that doesn't offer much in the way of durability . Doing something more elaborate is possible, but it makes my eyes and hands hurt just thinking about it, haha.

Finally got my DA-08 power suit after Hurricane Irma-related hiccups. Well worth the wait and easily my favorite of the line so far.

I've had OCD regarding a minimum level of articulation on action figures for too long to change now heh. I really value that specific articulation point.

My options thus far :
1) friction pin swivel
2) melted mushroom swivel
3) wire armature skeleton (wire coating optional)
4) transformers human alliance knee joints

I've used all of these methods in the past and , although #3 is great for scratch built figures (I've got a few made currently), #2 seems like the fastest method with the least amount of work for the most durability .

What did you have in mind ? Does anyone else have any suggestions? I need some fresh ideas before I cut the Dianauts arms above the elbow.

Congrats on the DA-08 . That is a nice looking power suit . I finally scored some 1/48 Votoms Fatty units at a *great* price after years of waiting for my Diaclone power suit to do battle with .

Initially saw it as a basic friction pin.

With precision drilling on tiny parts like those arms, I try to keep the machine work to a minimum. I know I'm going to slip eventually and destroy the piece.

The Votoms Fatty is a nice collection-worthy figure. That turquoise blue plastic is gorgeous, and the red Dianaut is practically made for it. The DA-08 is just a great toy. Very "toyetic." You can't help but mess with it. Takara could release JUST that suit forever now, in so many colorways, and have a viable line. My wallet cries just thinking about it.

Gonna take the pilot that came with DA-08 and do a quick repaint. Got a fun idea that I might have to run with...

Looking at these comparison images:

IMO you'd be better off making your own super articulated Titan Master head bot using ABS sheet and scratch building joints (or sculpting joints, molding and casting. or 3d printing micro joints).

The smallest sturdy stock joints i have modified and used (before Dianauts depending upon your definition of sturdy) were WWE Micro Aggression neck and hip joints, Jada Toys HALO mini figures joints and Transformers Human Alliance knee joints. I used them all on a KO Headmaster bot which towers over a titan master based upon the 1st picture above.

Here is a picture of the 2'' Jada HALO figures i modified long ago using joints from other Jada figures i sacrificed . The nubs on their hinge swivel joints are really small.

The cheap (free), quick and durable alternative option is braided wire. I swear by the stuff for micro work personally. I've made super poseable dianaut sized guys using it as the foundation of the figure as far back as at least 2002 and as long as you sculpt in such a way as to cover the wire in the joint areas it is great for this scale and the poseability is off the charts. I'm actually trying to make my Dianauts pose like my custom figures ( of course the Dianauts look infinitely better due to the fantastic sculpting).

The best micro figure customizer i have ever seen in my life is Patraw. The dude is BANANAS in 1.5'' or less scale . He uses wire frames like i do for articulation but he sculpts like a real artist in his preferred material. Absolutely amazing work.

Doc Strange on average have you found 15mm miniatures to be better head donors than 20 to 28mm miniatures with regard to head scale?

The donor heads I've been using for Dianauts are modified 1/72 scale, from whatever I have laying around. Not picky about manufacturer, just that the head has good detail and has a smooth surface.

Micro Machine figure heads have worked for me as well, but they're not as nicely detailed.

Sweet! What about the pilots, any word on them being KOed?

That was my first thought upon seeing these. I haven't heard anything yet but was told the orange Diaclone Devastator that included an orange powered suit and Dianaut is technically a KO. It's made by the same company. The quality of that set is high ("tight joints and quality plastic").
