There will also (finally) be a Micronauts movie in October of the same year and a D&D movie for 2021.

No precision about if GI Joe will be a reboot or a sequel.

There was also no precision about if the new movie would be good or bad. Or so bad its good, or just cringe-worthy.

I am guessing we will see a reboot so that they can align it with all of their other Cinematic Universe films ("Visionaries", "Rom", "Transformers", "MASK", "Action Man" and "Micronauts").

I have to be honest, I'm going to see all of those movies one way or another. Even if they are the worst movies ever, I will still Need to see them.

Looks like a sequel considering all of the tie in story lines for the reboot were canceled.

Just saw another report saying it will be a reboot, Hasbro is just snubbing MASK and ROM. Mask felt like the best fit with Joes os that is a shame.

It's kind of a shame that MASK won't be a part of it. I can understand ROM not working with GI Joe, but wonder if it'd work with Micronauts and Transformers. I know James Gunn is a fan of ROM, so I wonder if Hasbro is selling the character to Marvel.

Maybe they thought that MASK would be too similar to GIJoe or that Trakker's Thunderhawk would look too much like Bumblebee ?
Could be that the brilliant minds of Hollywood just don't know how to write a good MASK story ?
Can they even write a good GI Joe reboot without going too sci-fi?

I'm not too sure how everything will look once they start to mix everything up.
I just hope it won't be a huge mess and that the toy lines will be fully compatible. What's the point of mixing Transformers and GI Joe if your Joes can't get into the vehicles?

I have my fingers crossed that we get good Corps shows. The chatter is that they have talks of live action series and are further along in talks about cartoon. While I will miss my old GI Joe names a good 1:18 cartoon or show would still make me happy and these new molds are nice enough that I do not have the temptation to strap m90's to them to watch them go boom like Lamard figures back in the day. If they produce a good fiction around this new line and expand it then I will just stretch it into my Joeverse.

Am I the only one who liked Retalliation? I thought it was leaps and bounds better than Rise of Cobra and superior to all the Bayformer movies.

I just don't understand the point of a reboot. Just have Cobra and the Joes already established, throw in some explosions and some delightfully cliche dialogue and you've got a show.

That's how Sunbow did it and it worked out pretty well.

No, I liked it a lot more than RoC as well. I feel like comic fans probably like Retaliation better, and cartoon fans probably like RoC better.

Cartoon fan here - I liked both movies as fun, mindless, popcorn movies, but Retaliation was definitely the better of the two
