just getting started
Image

today at work my headphones started going out, so I was about to pitch them when I got an idea. this is the plastic housing that the speakers rode in. they were surprisingly well put together (about 9 screws per side) for $5 headphones. each of these is 3 separate pieces that nest and clip together.

I see them as hover/up thrusters

Making 4? You making them all different or the same? I am doing mine all different. I enjoy how much different one can look from the other. They slap together pretty quick. Pretty small builds. I am currently trying to get motivated to look for parts to build riders out of. My Joe room is a half done disaster.

Goof off is an acetone. It will melt plastic.

Acetone (fingernail polish remover) has very minimal if any plastic melting. Infact I am pretty sure when I tried using it with hopes of it melting the plastic that it didnt melt it at all.

Goofoff on the other hand is a very strong plastic melter. I tried using it for welding plastics a bit and it did the trick.

OK so went to test it. Fingernail polish remover does not melt the plastic but at the same time did not do much for taking off the sticker either. Alcohol did a little better but was still lacking. A piece of an orange peel, rubbing the white area on it actually did pretty good. I usually use paint thinner/mineral spirits for sticker removal.

Nail polish remover is weakened a bit I believe. The hard stuff is dangerous.

oops! I read goo gone in the main thred, but grabbed goof off from my wifes hobby stuff! glad I procrastinated :)

no hard plan yet Dremel. i'm thinking a team of 2-3 and a couple singles. none will be exactly the same, but the team might be similar.

I may have to look at investing in some straight acetone for welding.

I was thinking about a team but not sure I will get there. I am also considering a double bike.

dang save those two solid kickstands. probably hardest part to find for a complete RAM

It is fun to see the different approaches. Your approach looks so deliberate.

This is how my builds went.
Find Rams
Find jet pieces.
take dremel to Ram and jet piece and figure out exactly how much you need to cut and where by cutting.
Start gluing
find a wing
glue on the wing somewhere
go digging through parts and pieces to see if you need to add anything else.
start removing any stickers that may still be on.
Sand where needed
procrastinate about painting.
Decide that I can not paint until I have a driver
Go sorting through figure parts until something comes together
Once figure is put together decide on affiliation of figure and jetbike
paint figure and vehicle and add stickers.

I have a table full of parts I "found" while waiting on my bikes. trying to get them into a decent configuration . my riders were planned customs anyway :) I figured this was as good a reason as any to build them.
