Short Bus Kustoms challenged everyone to a 2 hour build. I had something in mind since custom celebration but I knew it would be close. I figured worse case I’d have a heck of start. Let preface what you are about to see with, this was crazy. You basically have to have everything lined up ready to go like a chef in a kitchen. I lost tools. I lost my mind. And if it wasn’t for my phone counting down I absolutely would have lost track of time.

I’ve been wanting to do a vanishing point project. No not a Sigma Six project. I mean I wanted a big warehouse/cargo bay, with out needing the space of a big long diorama. So I wanted to use angles to create a further vanishing point as an optical illusion for a bigger space. Even under the best circumstances this would have been tough. Add a huge time constraint and a break neck pace and well what you see is what you get.

I used my bathroom floor as a graphed cutting board. That helped a lot with measuring things and getting angles right.

25 minutes left on the original 2 hours and I had to call it a night. Put together but far from done.

Two hours done and 3 coats of gradient shading later.

Alright. One more hour but this is just set dressing. How hard could it be? Time. WHAT?! How? What? When? Bahhhh!

Now, that it is together might as well use it. Here’s Detective Joe Miller from the expanse.

One of the inspirations for sure. I tried to keep it generic to be multifunctional, but that, the Rocinante cargo hold from the Expanase, the Orville cargo hold, and the OSI/SPHINX headquarters from Venture Brothers all served as inspiration here.

Nailed the likeness on Miller. And love the scope of that dio. Can’t tell if it’s big as it seems, but definitely creates the impression of more going on

That looks awesome! I am building a zombie diorama but it definitely isn't a 2 or 3 hour diorama

Love the execution!! Glad you tried it out!! It’s definitely a rush/nerve racking experience. I hope others try it out as well.

I'm not familiar with the show, so I can only judge the set as its own thing. It looks good!
