These make me wish I hadn't sold my MU figures! :(

Not just you.

I've been staring at it much of the last week and I think I have a potential solution, but it's going to be pretty high impact. Will probably put it off until I get another few days off work in a row,

Thanks.
Is your solution a button down sweater and khakis? Possilby a satchel of Mexican food?

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

You're not far off, pluv. But that's a project for another time.

Meanwhile, I've got just a few MCU-inspired customs I need to knock out before I can close the book on most of these characters.

These are two that were long-simmering on my bench since Infinity War came out, the first being the trickier of the pair:

Corvus started as an orc character from The Hobbit figure line with a serious facial resculpt, but ultimately picked up scraps and miscellaneous accessories from my bin like a ball of flypaper. There's some Joe stuff in there and some MU stuff and even the hood off a Power of the Force Luke Skywalker figure. The paint is what's holding it all together, IMHO.

Next up is Corvus' lady love and the second most verbal of the Black Order characters featured in the films:

Proxima.jpg

Proxima is built on the comic-style Gamora body from the 1:18 Legends line and the head is a combination of Resolute Scarlet, 25th Baroness and some green stuff. Again, the paint is what's pulling everything together here.

Here's a shot of them with their boss and my first crack at Cull Obsidian (he'll be getting a pretty serius makeover soon):

What do you guys think?

really nice figures. your paint transformed that gamora base and really shows all the detail that the factory figure had.

Man, I like that Corvus a lot!
Unfamiliar with the character, but a mysteriously looking hooded guy + mask always works for me. Works very inspiring to make a new Ninja Force version of it.

Thanks, guys. These characters have been challenging, but fun. And this next one is no exception:

It kind of bummed me out that Ebony Maw got iced in Infinity War, because he's a truly creepy and charismatic villain. I tried to capture that with the excruciating facial sculpt (that's the Rock's head under there) and I ended up compromising a bit between his comic and movie outfits.

Here's a shot of him menacing his bestest Wizard pal:

And while I don't usually do WIP shots, here's one of my next (and last) figure in this series:

Thoughts?

very cool figure! that head sculpting is crazy! I never would of guess the rock was under there! not knowing the character, i'd say creepy and charismatic oozes from this guy! looks like a harry potter villain but from asgard .

Thanks 2Dark. That's as good a description of the character as I've heard from anyone who does know him.

That Ebony Maw is ridiculously screen accurate.

Appreciate all the kind words, fellas.

I used much of my holiday weekend to finish off that WIP I shared with the Ebony Maw post. As I mentioned in the Corvus/Proxima post, I'd been meaning to upgrade my Cull Obsidian, which wasn't quite big enough or visually similar enough to his movie appearance to please my harshest critics (my kids). So I decided to build a whole new one with this chinese knock-off figure as a base. Then I added in some arms and a head from the Marvel Legends Cull Obsidian BAF (which, relative to Legends figures, is really scaled more like Cull's shorter, comic counterpart Black Dwarf). Fortunately, the figures that came with those parts were pretty easy to find and, with a little Green Stuff and engineering...

...I was able to make this:

I'm really pleased with how he came out and particularly how he measures up to Thanos and the rest of my Black Order customs:

The sculpting on this is very, very well done!
