Toy Wizards is a good bread and butter site and has a nice write-up about the rumors that hit today.

I say no now

I said no to Sigma Six but after buying some second hand, I regret passing on them.

I said the 25th 5 packs were just for bookending my collection but now I have a lot of modern style figures. Though I hardly ever bought any at full retail, most were clearance and some secondhand and yard sale treasures.

I'm still not on board with the price of new 3 3/4 figures at retail and based on the price of 6" Star Wars Black Series and Legends I won't pay for these at full retail price.

I may pick and choose but there is no way I'm converting my collection.

These aren't rumors. Several vendors have confirmed the case pack out list. So far no pics, but Toy Fair is next month so we'll see something soon enough.

Like for S6, I'll probably pick up Snake Eyes and the eventual Storm Shadow.
While collectors seem to welcome this news with opened arms, I just hope it won't hinder the release of a 4" line as well.
Can the market sustain two lines of GI Joe at retail?

maybe they will have tiny heads like the first ME. might get decent size heads for 4" heavy duty, road block, and other big guys that were tiny headed :) I know I want a bigger movie HD head for a Candyman custom.

For those who want 6” figures this is good news but if I’m gonna pay 20plus dollars for a figure it’s gonna be boss fights because they are awesome and in scale with almost all my collection. Has to figure out a way to recapture the lightning that made Joes a hit but I don’t thin 6” figures will accomplish that

It was going to happen sooner or later. I am glad that the news is being well received and hopefully it will reinvigorate the fan base. I expect we will see pictures at Toy Fair.

Personally, the line will be a pass. I am heavily invested in 4” scale. Besides my display collection, all my custom fodder is 4” inch as well and I spent years building up a bank of parts to the point where I can pretty much customize whatever I want. I have enough to keep on customizing for a long time, especially with some regular additions from Marauder. No way I am liquidating everything and starting over.

More likely, I may pick up a few select characters just for display and that will depend on the quality of the sculpts. I have a very short list of figures that I would be interested in if the sculpting, articulation, accessories and body proportions are right. Basically, I don’t want upscaled GvC figures (I’m exaggerating to make my point, I don’t think that is what we will be getting, but new lines usually take a few waves to get bugs worked out). No customizing or army building for me.

OB

I’ll get them. At some point, I’ve realized that outside of customizing a 4” scale, the toys are possible statues for someone my age anyways. If they are detailed in the vein of the Star Wars black, they’ll look great on display. I did the same thing with the sideshow figures, I have no desire to collect 12” Joes, but those filled a couple of shelves up and look awesome.

The downside to this line (if it’s a thing) is how many waves can they pump out before people stop buying? The catalog of figures is huge, but once you get past.. say 6-8 waves, you start getting into the area where people got the core characters they want and you have peg warmers of guys only the hardcore collectors would want?

If there are no 4” offerings, there’s always marauders to fill that void for me. Almost 40 years of investment isn’t going anywhere, I’m not parting with the Joes I have now. They’d almost be like a niche, similar to sideshow, statues, busts, lunchboxes, and all the other random Joe stuff one can (and has) accumulated.

In the end, I just need to see them before I make a decision.

The only larger scale figures I’m interested is getting are the old MPact figures

I can't imagine getting heads that will work for 1:18. But I guarantee people will shrink the sculpts if they're any good
