Hasbro showed a slew of pre-production designs for New Sculpt era figures. One of them that didn't make it through to production was "Son of Kwinn". Instead we got Ghost Bear, which wasn't bad.

But there's something about SoK that resonates. And there's no reason that Kwinn couldn't have had more than one son.

The other WIP photo will be my ARAH take on Ghost Bear.

If someone told me they were going to paint sewn patches all over a figure I would be really hesitant about how that would look, but you pulled it off beautiffully. That skull shoulder pad came out really cool too.

Lots of fun. What vest is that?

Thanks, all!

That vest is what made this figure possible. 2DARK2C provided it, so extra thanks to you!! Without it, the figure just wouldn't have had the barrel chest and belly.

Anytime I get stuck on a strange build, I look into the pile of oddities that 2DARK2C gave me. They're unusual things that I can't imagine ever using, which is why they make the build process even stronger when I can weave them into pieces.

I'm glad the patchwork reads okay. I was considering going back and adding sculpted tufts of hair and painted fur areas. However, I wanted to keep it as simple as possible, so I'm glad it works.

Nice work, I agree that the painted on patches work surprisingly well.

I would love to know the stories behind some of those preproduction drawings. It's interesting what designs eventually found a release many years later and which ones were never seen again. I've always been interested in Ghost Bear as a character, even though I never had the figure back then. I have the same v2 heat viper torso set aside for my own custom of him, along with a SF Ryu head.

Some of the designs were repurposed as different characters. Colonel BG was just released as another version of Hawk. Mobster wasn't released, but there was a re-release of ARAH Headman.

Jinx's NS figure was different from both of the pictured designs. Barbecue in firefighter turnout gear would have been amazing.

The Ryu head is a great choice. The NS Ghost Bear figure has such strange hair sculpting. It's not waves of hair, or dreadlocks, or strands. Just odd floppy mounds that don't look like hair.

Yeah, that hair sculpt never looked right to me either. I've considered making a custom head based off that design, if I did I would make sure the hair was more detailed. I keep going back and forth between an unmasked look or masked. My custom will be a ways off from now though.

I just looked at them again, and there's a few drawings that stand out to me. Munitia is there unlabeled with a different torso/waist upper leg design, Zanya but in colors that are not comic accurate. Buzzer is there as well, with a design that ended up in sigma six. I always thought it was weird he was the only one of the original three not to receive a figure in the new sculpt period.

PN you made a mold and cast me those ryu heads from the one i modded. the forged in fire guy never got back with me. if you still have the mold it might be strange enough hair :) this is the 1st one i did,but the one you cast was similar.

Sadly, my organization of the molds isn't very good. They're too rubbery to hold ink on them, so I don't ever know which is which (I make them as "glove" molds, which don't split open to look at). I have a pile of them, but I'd have to fill them up just to figure which one I'd need.

I'll photoshop a texture on it just to complete the "film" look!
