And in vehicle mis-uses, the Ice Wolf Ski-pedoes were used as rocket sleds. I could get a figure to "lock" onto the top by wedging the ankles under the top fin and their hands would fit along the front railing perfectly.

I thought that was very interesting so I actually tried it yesterday and indeed, a figure can be positioned that way perfectly! Sweet idea!

I forgot I did that too!

Also, Tim, I’m seeing a trend with “time-bomb.”

Yeah, like I wrote in the first post I got hooked on time-bombs because of that particular scene in "Predator". Many weapons became personal favorites because I saw them used in action/ninja movies.

Dodger's gun....the "missile" had to be fired first...and then it worked like a regular machine gun....this meant I had to break off the missile and not lose it....which I course did.

That makes me curious, which figures are you talking about? I can only remember having trouble with S.A.W.-Viper, he never handled his weapon like he should. Zap V1 was before I got into G.I.Joe, I only know the thumb breaking stories from other collectors. Oh, and I was extra careful with Low-Light V1.

Never looked at him that way, but yes his suit does have deep sea diving potential!

That reminded me-- we had an stationary bike that was the War Rocket from the end of Flash Gordon. The joes were all stand ins for movie characters...although I don't remember who was used as who.... I'd say Outback was Vultan? But not sure.

I used the Manta's carry pack to load Thunder or Recondo up with ton's of gear/guns. I used a broken parachute pack in a similar fashion, but it held files and spy maps and stuff.

Charbroils flamethrower never seemed to fit correctly and I could also never figure out Ambush's tent setup.

And why is Undertow's spear shaft so small?

I remembered last night I used to take the little green plastic wire type vegetable/fruit baskets and wire them together using bread twist ties to make dive cages for Torpedo, Wet-Suit, and other Joes.

I used masking tape to make headbands

Yoda's soft goods robe and the jawa's softgoods robe were used to convert Joes into fantasy characters

Shipwreck's pistol - because there were so few pistols in scale that Joe hands could hold, became my go-to blaster for any Joes I used in space adventures.

Steeler - because he had a very basic and streamlined outfit was my sci-fi avatar (ProtoKnighthawk).

Ace was a space adventurer most of the time. Major Bludd's pistol was his laser blaster.
Hiss Driver was Spider-man.
Cobra Commander did wear Super Powers' Superman cape a lot. It even allowed him to fly one afternoon before he got eaten by a bear...

Fastdraw's backpack was a jet pack and his little controls were pistols.

Rip Cord got a full body cast of tape after a failed landing. I was so proud of that job it stayed that way for a month. Later on I discovered I could cut thin strips of tape to wrap the fists when my joes became wrestlers.

I randomly thought about the Sky Patrol parachute backpacks today and how many guns I would cram in them. Looking back the unlucky carrier looked like Kevin Hart in Jumanji.
