Finally decided to take the plunge and do paint some builds I've had put together for a while now. Definitely the most involved customs I've ever done, but I guess I ran out of excuses to keep putting them off. First up is Duke- out of all the modern versions, we never really got a true "ultimate" Duke. I thought this version of the Marauder trooper head was a fitting likeness, and kind of built everything else off of that.

Next up is Bulletproof from the COPS line. For whatever reason, I've gotten into the COPS vs. Crooks characters lately and wanted to incorporate them into my Joeverse. Hardest part was finding the right trench coat piece- got this one from AVAC's lab.

I've also been wanting a moderized version of Flash. Yeah, the 25th version was OK, but it still felt like he belonged in the early 80's. I wanted a true update to the character. Definitely the most intricate painting I've done, but I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.

A lot of you may recognize "Rockslide" as the unproduced GIJoe mountain trooper from Ron Rudat's archive. I've always wanted an actual figure of him- this was not much more than an LBC (started with a Retaliation Shock Trooper and just added gear with a little paint), but think he's a pretty good representation of the artwork.

Also did a version of Eco-Warrior Barbecue. I'd say this was probably the paint job I'm least happy with, but still OK with it overall.

cool stuff! i love that coat, was it a cast of hellboys coat?

i really like rockslide a lot! another character i've never seen,

why are flashes knees missing! obviously they are there, but have something leaving gaps where knee should be. an easy fix might be build-n-brawl kneepads or some heatshrink used as knee pads/wraps.

Thanks! Yes- Bulletproof's coat is a cast of Hellboy's from AVAC.

Flash's knees were one of those things I didn't really notice until I took the pics. The knees are there, but I used the upper legs from Skydive and the lower legs from Data-Viper bc I thought those packs on the shins made cool laser battery packs for Flash. The leg halves didn't really fit together too well though, and I had to shave a little away to give them full articulation. I guess I shaved a little too much, but like I said, I don't think it's as noticeable in person.

Love Rock Slide and Barbecue. All these are great but I don't think I'd seen anything quite like those two before.

Got back to work this weekend and painted a few more builds. Here's an "Ultimate Scarlett"- Rise of Cobra reaction armor painted up in her classic color scheme.

Here's an articulated version of Deep-Six. He's the first custom I've tried where I had to do a lot of construction on it. It was a lot of fun working on him to get him to look less like an Iron Man Drone and more like Deep Six. The Marauder Exo-Suit stickers also helped a lot.
