this is where my crocodile dundee stalled out, 2 yrs ago!!
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=46593&hilit=crocodile+dundee

since then i learned that there are different indy jackets and replaced the smaller with a larger version. my exp. ymmv that the indy with fixed hat is smaller than indy with removable hat. i only had 5 of each so not scientific in any way. then i got a modern zartan in trade from liveevil that i set aside for a new base.

and this guy in the purple hat got busted up. i needed the large torso for another project. last night i started a new project with the skull (skumm) and neck (mcfarlane).

i looked through all my goggles and helmets and this new sculpt piece had the largest cleanest lines. the ear ring back is an example to show where i harvested the small metal disks,
Image
cutting the soft helmet was easy, sanding it thinner to fit better was not! it flew across the room a couple times.
Image
i knew i could do it, but forgot how hard it was with pin head!
Image
then i pulledthem out 1 at a time and shortend them so they go all the way in.
Image
here you see the finished ear covers? and pins for the mouth staples.
Image
hours, blood, curses bring you vic rattlehead. i have to admit i never knew his name until a few nights ago. his image was very familiar. i liked, still like, megadeth but wasn't a super fan. they were some of the best of the t-shirt bands. symphony of destruction still rings in my ear sometimes. lots to do on the rest of him.

The effort on rattlehead was well worth it. Looks great.

I've used pins in customs before and I eventually started heating the tips so they would melt into the plastic. It's a precision exercise, but easier on the fingerpads.

thanks spin doctor!

pins have become my #1 go to on just about everything. i used to try and pin with superglue with mixed results. now i blind pin a lot, like items in hands (docs derringer above), or blind pin with hot glue for strength. in groot i used pins to sculpt the hot glue over on his head branches so they are super strong and will bend some. i have customs mocked up with just pins for test fitting in every category. i actually had to buy pins because i ran out of the 2 boxes i had for 8 yrs :)

on vic i used small pliers to sink the pilot pins, then tried to hit that same hole with the shortened ones. i've tried heating the pins, but i'm too slow! on my 3rd and final pinhead i used inner wire from twist tied and drilled every hole.

thanks jm70! i just stumbled on the reaction figure and thought "man that sucks. too bad i don't have an oversized...hey yeah i do". really i was googling images to make a burnt up potus from a decapitated 2face that i got from drbindy and stumbled head long into it. i bashed in some elbows last night. all i have is one real skeleton hand in scale so i'll have to paint a regular hand.

today i'm waist deep in croc skin. actually it's dollar store dino skin, but it looks close!

thanks sgcaper! i have the vic figure ready to paint. there are a few tweaks i want to do to the head, but the way things have been going today i'm leaving it alone! another bad glue day. i tried hotglue on rare earth magnets that didn't work.,then cleaned that up and found some superglue that works, but got everywhere. atleast i didn't glue my fingers together this time!
