I like the single for all the reasons you stated originally.

I appreciate it, the fact that it's so hard to figure out how far I can take it makes me wonder if it's just a bad idea from the start.

Cobra were terrorists but they weren't given a "home". Middle Eastern and South American hotspots were given new nondescript names. GI Joe is filled with instances of operating just outside of real life evil. The not quite SS logo works for that reason IMO.

I like the double bolt.. But I would understand if someone did not.. I don't think it pushes to far, but some might.

what if you made the whole symbol broken with a void of the stylized s. like a pepsi logo.
Image

even kiss dropped the rune s's for german or maybe euro consumption. last thing you would want is some image searching like i did for the patches, then using your image for some group or cause.

Great feedback, thanks guys. Here's a version with a lightning slash to bring it a little closer to the "busting" symbol.

I’ve had similar questions in the past. The answer is what you’re comfortable with. I don’t think anyone will misconstrue malice. They are still bad guys in your verse after all.

Most recent one looks badass. I’d maybe go to a darker red but it definitely hits the mark of what you wanted at outset.

I might suggest simplifying the ghost more....like in the one image of the ghost with the bolts coming out of it's fingers.

The think the single bolt design is good. If you wanted to do an SS idea how would it look if there was a lightning bolt with a second lightning bolt inside? I don't think you should simplify the ghost to have it resemble 40s era cartoons but I'm curious to see what that would look like. Can you try it?

I feel your pain man. It's hard to see WWII images of Nazis and not automatically think of stuff that's happening today, so it's a tightrope walk for sure.

As for the symbol, I think you have to do what you're comfortable with and realize that there will probably be someone else that isn't comfortable with it. I like the two lightning bolts but if it were me I'd probably use the single just to take a step back from that SS iconography.

I agree with AVE for the reasons you stated and he seconded.

Keeping the ghost in black as a silhouette doesn't quite work because... it's a ghost. (For lack of a good way of explaining it.)

What about a white ghost over a black field, surrounded by red?
