Spotted this brand new "Jurassic World: Dominion" "Micro Collection" 5pk at TJMaxx!

There are 3 all new juvenile dinos in this set: Carnotaurus, Indominus Rex and my favorite dino of all time- Ankylosaurus! I saw some concept art for this series yesterday that didn't show these 3 but did show an all new feathered Pyroraptor, which I will buy every single one of that I see when they hit :)

This set retails for $5.99 which is cheaper than buying singles at Dollar Tree now.

Okay its a giant dinosaur. That’s cool. But where is the play value? Doesn’t look super articulated. Any accessories? Other figures to interact with it? Spectre compared it to the USS Flagg but other than its size the comparison ends there. Unless they hang some giant cannons on its shoulders and dual flight decks on the back and go full Zoids Ultrasaurus or completely armor it up for a Dino Riders beast.

I wish I had the time, space, and talent to pick up this line to redo Dino Riders in 1:18th scale.

Yeah, I don't have room for the 2 Brachiosaurs and 2 Apatasaurs that I have already. But if I did, though... oh, man.

It should at least come with Allen Grant with removing his sunglasses action feature.

So I've been thinking about these giant dinos, I only have an Apatosaurus and TRex but I want them all. But like Mysterious Stranger said, what's the play value? Well, I LOVED DinoRiders and I have not one but two 3-D printers and as soon I figure everything out, I will be making armor for these things.

www.dinotracker.com

This is a promotional website for the new "Jurassic World" that follows the "Department Of Prehistoric Wildlife", an agency in the film. It has a world map with different dino encounters on it. Each spot has either a short video (red spot) or a photograph (blue spot) of the dino encounter as well as a description of the encounter. This will be updated regularly leading up to the release of the movie.

Upcoming Mattel "Jurassic World: Dominion" playsets!

The boxed image is the "Outpost Chaos Playset" and the loose image is the "Battle Gate Playset", which looks to be a smaller version of the Outpost Chaos set (and probably connects to the larger playset to make a bigger set).

Those both look great. The price point will be the deciding factor for me

Spoiler Free Movie Review:

I really enjoyed this movie!

It will not win any Oscars for anything other than SPFX, but you don't go into one of these films expecting Shakespeare.

The (mostly practical) dinosaurs look GREAT! FINALLY getting feathered dinosaurs on the big screen was AWESOME! Many old favorites from across the entire franchise get their moment in the sun alongside several species that are new to the franchise as of this film.

The scenes with the 2 generations of franchise characters meeting and interacting is done in a much more natural (and, frankly, earned) way than some recent "legacy" sequels (*cough* Disney "Star Wars" sequels *cough*) and were a joy to watch.

A legacy antagonist gets a redemption arc that I don't really feel was earned since each and every appearance by this character (including in the cartoon), he is an insufferable jerk. But, his latest scientific atrocity (the element that actually jumpstarts the entire story) has caused him to seek redemption and the actor plays it well. But, it almost feels like he isn't really playing the same character he has since 1993.

Another legacy antagonist gets recast as the original actor was found to be a sex offender since his last appearance in the franchise, but in all honesty, the recasting is barely noticable as the original character only had about 4 minutes of screentime in the first film.

One downside is that the film does tend to be more of a collection of various set pieces, each showcasing a different species (or group of species) that gets it's big scene and more or less disappears for the remainder of the film's lengthy (2 1/2+ hours) runtime instead of a solid, cohesive story.

Overall, I recommend this film of you are a fan of the franchise, dinosaurs, monster movies or even just high octane action (the Atrociraptor chase is thrilling!). Don't expect high cinema, just an enjoyable summer popcorn movie.

Also: there is no mid/post-credits scene so you can leave the theatre as soon as the credits begin to roll- I just saved you 17 minutes of your life ;)
