Whoops! I meant to say Meekley's hat. Is that the MTF fatigue cap with the bill pinned up?

Yeah. It took some work to get it to stay. I'd use heat first next time before shaping and gluing it in place.

Cool. That was my next question.

For "Crystal Thing" what is making it scream "Thing" to me is the head shape. If you can tone down or reshape the eyebrows and give the chin a different shape I think that would help a lot. Maybe a few small crystal points coming out of the skull or eyebrows? I think he could use some more smaller crystals down the torso as well. Like they are just starting to sprout. But I really like the stone look you have gotten with the paint. You might try adding some crystal color around the holes where the crystals are coming out or in the cracks between the scales. Go all in on this guy metamorphosing into a crystal blossom.

I agree, I think it's that brow that makes it just read as the Thing. If you REALLY wanted to make it look different, I think you could lose the head completely to make sure it didn't look too much like Thing or even Korg. Also, wonder if there's a way to flip the head so that brow works as the mouth... Smooth out some of the other features?

It's definitely a solid design as is, but that rocky eyebrow ridge is pretty iconic as the thing.i don't think it's a deal breaker though if you decide to keep it as is.

The eyebrow is just too synonymous as the Thing.

I was thinking making the mouth a bit narrower, but the brow would still be there. Maybe some molded material above it or just take a Dremel and cut out chunks of the brow.

Maybe check out the Funk Pops Frozen II rock thing to see what other rock creatures looked like.

Edit: Funko Pop! Disney: Frozen 2 - Earth Giant https://a.co/d/eBQWT1e

Bisect the eyebrow, add some vertical cuts on the face-something to make it look like a section of rock broke free and crashed down.

Thanks to everyone for the ideas on the Thing looking figure. I took ideas from Mysterious Stranger and DotD as well as doing what I had wanted with added Halo Armor and now I’m super happy with it

On a side note, if you flip the Thing’s head upside down his pronounced brow becomes an epic rockstache. I added the Crystal beard just cause

Here’s one I just finished.

The Rocketeer

I wasn’t going for comic or movie accurate. I was going for the feeling. This Rocketeer survives in the post-zompoc world

I had found the helmet in a bag of casts back when I bought that collection last year. Yesterday I was sorting the bag of random casts from that and found the pack. I used a styrene rod for the backpack peg and went to work building the figure. I had three different torso choices (a Cobra Commander, Crimson Guard, and this Storm Shadow) they each had pluses and minuses but I ended up going with the SS

New mods to crystal rock thing guy made me stop my scrolling. That is great work, looks like a Brute Predator.

Awesome parts choices and paints on Rocketeer.

Love the changes to Rock guy!

Just showed Rocketeer to our 8 year old lastonth or so, definitely got the itch to do something from the film in figure form. Your take looks excellent.

Thanks y'all! I'm really happy with the rock figure, not sure what I'll name it.

Rocketeer just came together very quickly. Once I found that pack last night I went right to work on it. Glad y'all dig it.

i love the rocketeer build. the rock/crystal guy looks good. i dig the way you carried color into the cracks to match the crystals. instead of an epic stache i see him as having duck lips :)

Thanks. That bit was Mysterious Stranger's idea it looks even better in hand. It makes me want to find another Thing figure since the red looks like magma just below the surface, doing a whole figure in black and dark gray with red, orange, yellow peaking through the cracks would look awesome

I like the way the crystal guy turned out and I’m glad I could help in a small way.

I love The Rocketeer. Your version is fantastic. The Storm Shadow torso works as a more modern look that I like. The helmet looks a bit big but that’s because its an actual helmet and not a solid sculpt. It doesn’t take away from the figure though. But he does need the gum on the jetpack :)

It’s been a hot minute but I have a few figures done.

First up

“I Pity The Fool” that doesn’t rush out to get the parts to make this LBC

Image

Next up are a couple I’ve shown before they were fully completed.

Beav

I originally wanted swappable vests and stuff but wasn’t happy with how things were fitting the torso. Then I found this Zartan we fear that I had sliced the hood off of and BAM it was done. The Zartan collar is a damn perfect match for the color I painted it (yes I painted it the near identical color the figure came in.

Image
Image

And I finished my Swamp Rat. It has a magnetic tail. As well as the modified back showing where some of the mods to his DNA took place

Here’s the back. I cut the mech part from a Cobra Commander, thinned it out, and glued it on the torso. It’s a detail hidden by the cape but the originals have something like it so I did it.

Next to the one made for my client

I think I’m going to give my client a second head. I like the one I used more than the OG head

*No pets were harmed in the making of this custom.

I have a Mr. T figure on preorder at Amazon that I'm planning to do this with. I need to remember when I'm doing a Gridiron order that I need one of their AKs for him.
