I do love that net launcher. I'm glad it made it high up on the list. And who doens't love robot sharks?

As an adult and especially as a customizer, all of those unpainted details became even more important in my eyes. Like Battle Corps Bazooka's missile launcher with the tackle box strapped to it and broken down fishing rod tied to it. It somehow made a goofy figure a goofy fun figure. I cna't explain it but something I definintely took for granted as a kid.

Ones I'm really sad didn't make the list:
'91 Snake Eyes. I know, another hook. But for all the reasons you mention, I played with that thing so much. As a fan of the comics, Snake Eyes was climbing every piece of furniture in the house and every rock and tree outside with that thing. Hit n Run's duffle bag was great, but it didn't fire the hook off.

General Flagg's Missile flinger catapult. With its rubber band catapult it launches the missile exactly like you think it does. Again, it is the hidden details on this thing that make it stand out for me. It has wheels molded in the base along with air compressors and a hitch. This thing would have been a small towable similar to the MMS.

I never noticed the tackle box on Bazooka's gear. I'll have to check it out.

The '91 Snake Eyes hook was probably a better choice since it attached to his pack. I should have bumped Lifeline for him.

This was an ingenious way to get new weapons into the hands of kids who lost their originals. Sadly, only the 1983 set really featured weapon colors close to the originals while the packs and helmets were drastically different.

This small tank filled a hole in my childhood collection. It definitely has some limitations. But, it's also a necessary piece that's fun to photograph.

I'm not sure what this figure is supposed to be. But, he's bright orange and has a helmet mounted missile launcher that would decapitate him if he used it. If that does't get you to want this figure, I don't know what will!

When people talk about bad Joe designs, they tend to focus on ridiculous concepts (Raptor, Cobra-La) or neon colors, but I'd argue that what separates the good designs from the bad is actually whether or not the sculpted elements have any discernible function. '93 Muskrat is a prime example. The sculpt's not bad, per se (I actually quite like the head sculpt), but it's all just random greeble, signifying nothing. The new sculpt era had a lot of this, as well.

I'd really love to know what they were thinking with the Muskrat. But, they recycled so much stuff at the end, it's very possible his original purpose was much different that what he ended up as.
