Back when everyone made MASK customs, the RoC Destro or the Resolute Destro bodies were the go-to choices. Miles Mayhem's most iconic look, the slate blue dress uniform, was also the color set most people worked with. A few customizers nailed that look perfectly, so at the time, I went for the less well known Miles Mayhem in Buzzard attire.

But that dress uniform is really what Miles Mayhem is all about. So, I gave in. But, still just a bit resistant to doing the original figure, I went with the "Venom's Revenge" version, which featured Miles Mayhem in a khaki dress uniform. I even added a jetpack to match the set.

The helmet is modeled after the V1 Miles Mayhem helmet, and I kept its colors because they play well with the khaki uniform.

I also used a different skirt piece and added the belly to really give Miles Mayhem the husky look the figure needs.

First of all, this is a gorgeous custom: the sculpting and paint are both very smooth, and all the parts choices work perfectly. All the work you did on the belts and straps really pays off. Second, I love that you went with the tan uniform: that was the only one I had as a kid, and it's still what I picture when I think of the character. Including the jetpack was a nice touch, too. Great work all the way around!

Thanks. I had to bulk up the shoulders, so it lost lateral movement there, and I would have liked to have kept that POA. Otherwise I'm very happy with it.

Thanks. The belly is what makes this custom, and it's hard to sculpt them without going overboard, which I have on other customs.

I'm glad that the second version existed, because it gave me another route to making the dress uniform. So many people nailed that look that I didn't see any need to try.

It's strange that there was a time you couldn't just get whichever MASK figure you wanted from the mighty eBay. I think there was a time back in '86/'87 before the straight-repaint 2 figures packs came when you could get some of the characters in the "mission set" repaints only. I don't remember which ones, but there were a few my brother and I never had in their original colors. Alex Sector maybe?

Thanks.

All of you nailed the V1 Miles Mayhem. But I did stick w the V1 mask because it's so iconic. The "Venom's Revenge" mask looked like a toaster.

Same here: I never had the Rhino or the Switchblade, so the only way I could get Miles Mayhem or Bruce Sato at that point was to buy those mission sets. Then the 2-packs came along and everybody was readily available. But I only ever had the tan Miles and the white Bruce. It's funny that I look back on that time with so much nostalgia, but I rarely think about how hard it was to get a figure or vehicle after they left the shelves. It was garage sales or maybe somebody's older brother selling off their toys to the neighborhood kids, or else you were out of luck.

I was one of the ones that got lucky and had both the Blue & the Tan Miles and so I used the Tan as Maximus since I didn't get the vehicle he came with.

Gotta ask- did you Sharpie out his eye?

I was out of MASK by the time the Split Seconds and Racing Series stuff came out, so I missed a lot of interesting stuff. I wasn't aware of Maximus until I started digging into the toy information and cartoons when I did my MASK custom set.

It was disappointing to learn that the Buzzard should have had a drone pilot (which was shown in the cartoon as having something like a knight's helmet for a head, and with robot arms wearing gloves). The toy had a molded-in-place drone, like R2D2 on the old X-Wings.

I'm not the first to say this (Timmer on Half the Battle recently said it, too), but ReAction needs to bring back MASK. With added knee articulation, of course. And arms pre-posed to hold steering wheels, too.

If I remember correctly I used a piece of electrical tape.
