Topside's kind of a forgotten about character, both because he was from 1990 where only a handful of the Joes are memorable and because he was a non-SEAL diver, the only sailor to follow unforgettable ol' Shipwreck. My bias for obscure Joe characters shines through again, yeah.

I just needed more varied personnel for my Joe Anniversary team, more seaside help for Shippy. I did the custom this way because I wanted a non-blue Navy guy and because Topside's just never been done this way in custom form, without the helmet and life vest.

I assume his giant NAVY life vest and rope belt are removable (and not shown for reasons of good taste?)

You know what they say about assuming, Charles, right? :-P

I wanted to get far away from the original figure.

Topside? That's so off the beaten track. Really nice custom though. Colors match perfectly, head+hats looks great. But very unusual with a Topside custom :D

Even tho it's not a proper officer's uniform (and the white cap means he should be, iirc); that totally works quite well. I can easily see him going Mustang after a few years and being a butterbar LT now.

It's cool y'all can dig this one. It's a radical departure for his look, it's nice to know it works.

I didn't actually realize that the white hats were officer-only regs but I should have figured. Either way, you have a good idea and I'm going to run with, AV, thanks.

My 25A team needs more officers and I have promoted numerous Joes up to graduates of OCS before, it works for me that Topside's the latest on that list. Maybe he can get a bigger boat than the Piranha assigned to him someday too.

Looks good man. I can see the Shippy body there but the changes you made make it different enough to be a new character. And he and Shippy look really good on the boat there.
