My father lives about 15 minutes from downtown Dallas, so I figure I'll stay with him to save the $500-$600 hotel costs. I'm figuring I can put up 4 people at his house, cost free (other than cleaning up after yourself and not being an ass). You'll be responsible for your own food, we can carpool to and from daily.

My plan is to set up shop Thursday night, roll into bed around 11pm every night, and be up and back at the hotel around 7-8am every morning. I don't drink/party so that must be considered that I can't return to my fathers house nightly with stumbling drunks (looks at CabanaJack).

Whoever comes with me will hafta share that plan, just so ya know up front.

If anyones intererested, I should still have 2 blank spots. I have one confirmed spot claimed already. Send me a PM to get on the list and I'll have a definite answer for you in a day or two. I would prefer to have people I know/have met before, as this isn't my house.

Interesting. Sort of back to the center of the country. Well, south center, anyway. I would've expected something further west after Atlanta and New Orleans the past couple of years. On the other hand, Dallas is right in the Club's back yard, practically, which is bound to make it easier on them, so one can hardly blame them for it.

Wish I could say I was going to be there, but although it's very easy to get a plane from Tucson to Dallas, the $$$ simply are not likely to be there.

Now -- what's the Convention Figure package?

I have to think the location selection has to do with the shorter time period in between conventions. This is near the club's offices in Fort Worth. They also had a TF in this area (if not the same hotel) 2 years ago. They probably already had the contacts lined up.

Kinda of a crappy hotel from the looks of it, compared to recent cons. That could be better though, as it's probably not as busy or arrogant.

Kinda strange also that it's not in the downtown area, but about 15 miles north.

Serious? That sucks royally. Last con I paid an extra $70 to have electricity at my booth to run credit cards thru my laptop and the wi-fi didnt reach the convention hall.

That will suck if this place has no way to connect online. I wonder if I can get one of those plug in and access the web cards?

I wouldn't worry about that. Every year, there's some major shipping company that attends these Conventions, and in my experience from those that I HAVE attended, they always do a very capable job of making sure that your stuff gets back to you in excellent condition.

The funny thing is that invariably these guys see almost no business on Friday and Saturday, wonder what the heck they're doing there, and then it's a major scramble on Sunday, they're calling in additional employees, bringing in more packaging supplies, and generally freaking out. It's pretty hysterical. Which sort of brings me to point two -- if you use them, ship EARLY!

In the instance of conventions that I plan to attend for several days, I prefer the convenience of being able to simply walk up and down the street for whatever I need as opposed to having to go back and forth to the parking garage, calling for my car, etc. And in this case, this year I'll be a in a large U-Haul. I plan on having 3-4 booths which is 9-12 tables so I've gotta bring a ton o' merchandise/displays,etc.

So the idea of having to drive that monster any more than necessary is not appealing at all.

Last year was my first convention. But, we had planned so much to do, I hardly got to do anything there. Depending on what the figure set is, I might go to this one. And this time, I know I would be able to spend more time there.

This is way to cool!!! Me and my family have been talking about going to Texas this summer for our big vaction. My wife and I have been saying for quite awhile that it would be pretty cool if the con was in Texas. Sooo it looks like I will be attending my second convention. First visit was here in Florida, and alot of you guys said it wasn't the best, so I am looking foward to this one becasue things improve with time.

Well, yeah, I can see that. I was just speaking for myself. I've lived in suburbs my whole life, and have never been terribly fond of big cites. No offense intended there.

I misread the invitation and Ryan's wedding is the 28th. While I LOVE the Con and seeing all you guys, this is a once in a lifetime thing that I CAN'T miss.
