Which will you most likely continue to collect? With all the great suff coming out, will you give up RAH?
For one thing there really isn't much left for me to collect from the original line. Yeah a few figures could be replaced from the wear and tear of having actually played with them as a kid but for the most part I have all of those I want so to collect any more would mean I stumbled onto a good deal somewhere and picked it up.
At first I didn't like the 25th Ann. stuff because of the hip problems. But now that they have that fixed and all but 2 so far of the original 13 out or coming out (not to mention lots variations on the Blueshirts) it has become the main focus of my collecting (especially with the report that Star Wars figures are going up to $8.00 a pop).
The one thing I can say about the "New Sculpts" line that it had over the 25th Ann. and original line is that the "New Sculpts" knew how to do a well articulated and good looking female figure.
In my collection though I see the the 25th Ann. and the original line as two seperate Joeverses (as the figures look different and are incompatable for customizing parts). With my 25th Ann. collection though I plan on keeping things real simple. It will be the original 13 plus some others (mostly LBCed to keep the original 13 look and feel) against Cobra Blueshirts (and variation of them), CGs, BATs and specialist (like Destro, Firefly, Wild Weasel, Zartan and Major Bludd.....and Scrap-Iron if they ever come out with that figure) like it was when I fell in love with the line as a kid.. I'll probably also get the MASS device (depending on cost and available funds at the time) but beyond that I doubt I'll buy into all the craziness that the original line had as the years progressed (just say NO to Cobra-La).
While I'll always have a special place in my heart for the original line (caraziness and all), I guess you could say I see the 25th Ann. line as a chance to restart my collection and now have the wisdom to know what I like and when to stop.
