Does he have an all-black painted torso despite being two different articles of clothing, thighpads, and lack an elbow joint?

Thigh pads yes, the rest, no:

Then don't worry. Using the same recipe of parts isn't the same as fubaring him like Hasbro's done. You've gone the whole other direction than they have and made a pretty decent fig. I'm not a fan of the thighpads, but at least you've not tried to simply paint them the same color as the pants to make them 'not there'.

Psh... I'm out then. I 've got no interest in customizing Joe characters. Though I am tempted to do Major Bludd, just to show Hasbro what a good one should look like.

You use Zartan thighs? If not, you've got yourself a solid custom.
If so, Hasbro stole your idea & it's all your fault! ;-)

I'm not a 25th Bludd hater but I see the fault in the design. Yours does a decent job of addressing the base figure issues where as Hasbro, like AV said, just tried to pretend those issues don't exist. Not to mention I think most people are just ticked off because Bludd is a major character, no pun intended, and yet all they could muster up was a repaint for him. Copper Head gets his own design. HISS driver gets his own design. Major Bludd gets a so so repaint.

See, you actually made them pads, not slightly off-color patches Bludd wears cause he's too cheap to get a new pair of pants. Yours' I like. Hasbro's... teh sux.

Too bad I'm not a member, I'd send them pics of The Fool I made (25A Baroness legs and arms married to 25A Snake-Eyes, with a Teen Titans Robin head--heavily modified). It's ugly as hell but it's sure original. :-)

BTW, what is a "standard JPEG resolution" size? I notice they didn't specify it in the rules (normally I go with JC standards of 500X600 but I'm not sure that applies elsewhere?)
