Here's my 25th Alpine. His goggles have 4 settings: Night Vision, Thermal, Magnifying, and ??? allowing Alpine to "see" in all conditions.

This was my first time using Green Stuff to sculpt (the hair) and I think it came out great (IMO).

The only additions I plan are: resizing the web gear and giving him an M60, slung below his back pouch.

While this is a freaking awesome custom, he just dosent say Alpine to me.
But this is still one bad ass custom and I can tell you put a heck of alot of work into it.
Great job!

The thing about Alpine is that he really had no defining characteristic other than the fact that he was a mountain climber. Even his figures had nothing in common: v1 mustache, all others beard. v1 full climbing gear, all others day hiking gear (shorts man. SHORTS!!!). I took those figs and put my spin on them: using gear from both v1 and v3, goatee as a compromise between 'stache and beard. Lost the head gear and went with flat top. Gave him googles (tip o' the hat to v1). IMO it's Alpine, but given what we had originally almost any black guy with rope and a climbing gear could be Alpine.

Wow...huge amount of detail, and great paint job. His goggle thing is wild. :) While I don't immediately look and see Alpine, I see your reasoning, and it's cool that you kind of synthesized nods from all the figures into one.

LMAO!!! I guess you've got a point there.
And I can see your nod's to the original. Like I said before, awesome figure!

I like what ya did with the shirt but the googles thingy is too weird looking. I think the hair looks good as well but he has too much gear on his lower body.

Seems encumbered by all his gear considering he has mountains to climb, but there's no doubt he looks great.

Um... if you look he really doesn't have all that much gear: A climbing harness, leg rifle bag / climbing shelter bag, a lower back haul bag for climbing gear (carabiners, crampons, ascender, belay, pulleys, etc.), rope, pistol, rifle, goggles, climbing axe, chest web gear.

Having been infantry myself and having had lots of friends in 10th Mountain I can tell you this is nothing. Heck most amateur climbers carry more.

Sean, where'd you get the goggles from? An idea just hit me for another character I could use them for if I could maybe find whatever the source toys were.

The goggles are from Funskool Tracker. They were originally "glasses" so I cut extra web gear to make a strap.
