I finally managed to win a 155 on ebay. It took over 4 weeks for the money order to get to Canada, then, when I got the package, it was empty.

Looks like someone in customs now has a final copy of the GI Joe run. And I'm out $48. Isn't that great.

I'm missing sixteen issues to complete my collection (7, 8, 9, 12, 16, 20, 21, 87, 89, 90, 93, 151-155), but now I'm just a little sour :(

that sucks. ebay is unreliable, you will always end up getting dissapointed at some point. :(
hope you find the issues somewhere else.

Are you sure it wasn't the sender?

I once recieved an empty package with a tracking sticker. When I tried to file a dispute the guy pulled out the tracking information :(

I hate E-Bay

Either way it sucks though. Sorry bro :(

That sucks, Chad. 155 is one of the ones I read quite often (I'm even taking mine up to JoeCanuck to have Larry Hama sign it.) I've never gotten comics off Ebay before - I didn't know this kind of thing happened. :(

Man, that sucks. Anyway you can file a complaint or stop payment through your bank?

I'm planning on heading down to my local comic book store either Monday or Wednesday.

I can take a look for these comics for ya.

What type of price were you looking for? I'm not sure exactly, but most of the back issues run in the $3.00 range. Also the owner does run 50% or other deals, and usually has some sweet deals on 'Free Comic Book Day'.

Just LMK via PM or here...

$48??? I guess it's considered a key issue, but didn't think about them being so pricey to pick up on the secondary market. It's worry over stuff like this that makes me avoid ebay-- i haven't used it in years, really. Sorry to hear of your plight.

I sold mine 4+ years ago as a newsstand copy at $108. So yeah, prices have been intense the past couple years. Keep in mind I was kinda riding the "interest in Devil's Due" thing.

I really hate to hear this. That's terrible. Are you sure that customs got it? I'm not sure what the course of action would be if customs took it. It's not really the seller's fault. I would definately let you seller know, though.

I'm pretty sure it was customs. Chad took the package to the PO and they told him that it looks like something customs would have done. The package also was colorful, so it sorta brought attention to it. It seems like shipping Canada to US and vice versa is really sucky.

....I know shipping to/from Canada is horrible, but I've never heard of them taking items out of packages. At any rate, Canada really needs to work on their postal system. When you make the USPS look good, you know there's a problem.

Excuse me but what? Our postal systems works fine. And so does the US one. I have received hundreds of packages over a decade of buying stuff from the US. I have only been screwed over a few times by bad sellers, not the postal system. So somebody needs to define horrible here.

And how is this Canada Post's fault? If somebody from customs opened it, then it's US customs. Canada only opens packages coming into Canada. And if they did, Canada customs uses yellow tape to seal up package from where it was opened and gives you a nice invoice with their handling fee.

100% true as I have had MANY Packages arrive that way - always with a duty fee and a "handling fee".

U.S. checks items coming into the U.S. (as it should) Canada checks items coming into Canada, and the UK checks items coming into the UK.

If you have yellow tape on your package, that says Canada - then the SELLER has reused a box and is ripping you off 100%.

Did you get a tracking number?... hit up Canadapost.ca or usps.com and see where it was ripped open. It will state "Held for customs".

U.S. Customs did that? Geez I would take this up with your Congressman. That's what they are there for.
SPECULATION...Hmmm they probably use drug-sniffing dogs. I wonder if the guy you got the issue from could have/had a marijuana. The dog might have picked up on the scent even if it was from smoke.
Anyway wouldn't they have some sort of explaination or form saying it was opened officially? I know they put on stickers on luggage if they open them.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were so personally attached to your post office.

And by "horrible" I mean that I've had several packages sent to Canada that would have traveled within the US without incident get mangled and smashed, and I've received a few as well. And I've had honest-to-God Canadians tell me that their postal system is horrible. But again, I meant no offense to your wonderful, beautiful postal system, which is like a mother and a father unto us all. Long may it reign.

I am not a defender for Canada Post or any form of federal service in this country. But to state it's all Canadian postal system fault is a laughable. I am sure the guys loading/off loading the airplane handle each package like fine china. And packages I have received damaged or mangled are a result of the seller and his/her decision of using a really "LASER BLAST" packaging box, which was weak to handle the beating to begin with (i.e. shoe box).

Like I said, both postal systems work fine. And Canadians whine because the postal system here is slow. Big deal. I still get my package in less than 2 weeks.
