Wasn't sure if this should be a separate post or part of the thread for the first figure. Please move this as necessary.

Anyway, the second figure is the Headhunter Guard using the original Headhunter mold!

http://gijoeclub.com/conventions/dallas ... review.cfm

I have to believe that these are the original molds, can't see Master Collector shelling out the dough to recast more than one complete figure.

Figure looks good, though I still don't know what to make of this green and black color scheme...

It looks pretty good, but I think the new logo actually detracts from the fig.

Me likey.

A very nice update.

Though I agree the logo is kinda odd looking.

Now bring on the Stormtrooper!

Good, they have the molds. Great news. This is probably the first figure I've seen from them though that isn't better than the original. LEt's compare shell we.

Original was black with brown leather looking details and had some of the best accessories ever.

This one is mostly what Crayola would call Blue-Green. Nto exactly gangsta material. The accessories are ok but really nothig to write home about. The Shipwreck shotgun pistol is cool but not nearly as cool as the original. And now he has a big target, um, logo on his jacket. Good figure but I have to admit to being a little let down.

I loved the original, but I'm not feeling this one. I think it's the color of that suit.

Oh hell yeah. They've got the tooling. Holy crap.

Hawkie is one happy camper! :hawknana2:

As for the figure itself...hmm...maybe my screen's a bit screwy, but that looks more gray than blue/green. The figure looks pretty damn cool, I've gotta say, but I'm a Headhunter goomba, anyway.

Bring on that Stormtrooper!! W00t!!

Nice to see the mold for sure. I'm not really liking those accessories much. The original shotgun was cool because it had a pack that could hold it. Barring that, there is no reason for a shotgun and I'd have rather seen some better accessories included.

That's my thought, too. While this figure isn't bad, it isn't going to be a replacement for my original Headhunters. The green is cool and, if there's only 2 of these in the set, won't be too overwhelming. But, really, there wasn't much room for improvement on either the HH or HHST, so something that is drastically different at least offers me a reason to buy them.

So far, Gristle is still the winner. But, this certainly isn't a bad figure by any means. I just hope they tone down the green for the HHST to offset this guy a bit.

...........
One other point of interest: both these figures only have a few colors as part of their paint masks. I wonder if the paint on the accessories is costing us additional colors on the figures?

Well I can understand why the club went with these colors so far.

The original was all black and brown. And if they went black and any other color (red or gray highlights as they do with many of the other con figs), people would complain that they are too similar to the orginals. Others would complain they've done similar colors too. Black Dragon Trooper, IG, Iron Anvils, so I guess the club wanted to try it a different way

The color is definitely a bluish-green. But I think it would have been great if suit was gray with black and gold highlights. Even a dark blue or cobra blue suit would work.

The figure itself is not an improvement over the original, but cool to see the original mold. This color for a suit just doesn't work.

So what if we get the Headhunter SS and the V1 bats with the same greenish-blue as its base color?

I like it. Another solid repaint.

I like it.

It has a bit of a more upscale look to it, compared to the original. The colors look a bit more like a suit than the original. Makes me wonder if there's some kind of Headman update in the wings, maybe as the Con attendee exclusive.

Hooray for the tooling.

BOO on the colours.

I agree. Something about that shade of blue just doesn't look right and to me the color comes out too flat & muted. It reminds me of the HISS that came with Rip-It & the Cobra Night Watch shade of blue that the troopers/officers had.

I was kind of wondering that, too...but I'm thinking it might also have to do with the Joes in the attende set. You gotta figure that urban Joes are going to be pretty macked out in urban camouflage, so it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up with a lot of the paint apps money...
