The HH looks OK to me. I'm wondering what the color will look like in real life, not on my computer monitor.

One other point of interest: both these figures only have a few colors as part of their paint masks. I wonder if the paint on the accessories is costing us additional colors on the figures?

I was kind of wondering that, too...but I'm thinking it might also have to do with the Joes in the attende set. You gotta figure that urban Joes are going to be pretty macked out in urban camouflage, so it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up with a lot of the paint apps money...

Maybe I'm coming from an ideal world, but the paint apps on one set should not be determining the cost of another set.

I like it. The colors are certainly better than the colors on the Zubaz Slaughter's Renegades from 2 years ago

This is the first time I actually like the weapons in a Con set too

Meh, not really feeling it about this set yet. I don't like the HHST as much as the HH (the ST's head is too small and weirdly-shaped); and this fig was gonna be a big draw for me. But this color scheme, while not necessarily a FAIL, certainly isn't a WIN. Any one of Dan's photo-repaints are miles better than this; I especially like the middle one.

Well, in my mind a budget is a budget regardless of which set you're pulling money from. If the GIJCC invests a lot more money in the paint apps of the attende exclusive stuff, it would definitely impact the amount of money they can invest in other figures, even if they're from a different segment of the Con exclusive set...that's pretty normal, I'd think.

I'm not saying that's definitely what's going on, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Justin

By the way, in regards to the colors, a couple of quotes from the GIJCC Message Boards from David Lane:

Quote:
Hey Guys,

just remember that colors differ from monitor-to-monitor. The original 1993 version had brown hair and our version is closer to a reddish-brown. Also, his uniform is not green, it is actually a blue/gray combo with a cool name...more on that later!

We wanted a slight change to depict his hiding out in South America all these years.

Happy to answer...especially since colors vary from monitor-to-monitor. The HH deco is neither teal nor green. Their color scheme is appropriately called "Arsenic" - which is the dark bluish-gray color of the element Arsenic.

So, looks like whatever the color looks like on the monitor, we're getting a more blue/gray than green or teal. Good news for me.

Justin

Somehow, I think I'd prefer teal.

Agreed, but dark grey like the HH Stormtroopers. Dan of the Dead's grey scheme, but a little darker.
Dan's blue scheme looks cool, but very Cobra and I'd rather see them as a non-Cobra organisation. Like Destro's Iron Grenadiers.
So far I only like that shotgun. Ubercool!

We'll see once the figures are in hand, but I'm willing to bet the color we're seeing now is pretty close to what they will look like in person. Arsenic is a dark gray color that doesn't look green in the least while these look really green. I don't know why they couldn't just say "Yeah it's a little unique, but it's cool once you get used to it" instead of making excuses.

I like the bit about hiding in South America though.

I've always thought of the Headhunters as separate from Cobra, though that's probably just from the cartoon.

If they're going to be part of COBRA, I'd like the blue the color scheme.

If they're going to be a totally different group (and let's assume the the basic black look is "off limits" to differentiate it from the original) I think the gray was the way to go to. Maybe pair it with a HHStormTrooper in black, to swap their color schemes from the originals.

I'm not crazy about the particular shade, but the brown is growing on me as a possibility.

I'm interested to see how the "arsenic" color scheme looks on the other figures though.

I viewed it on 4 different monitors (2 of which are color calibrated for design) and the color shown in the original picture has more green than blue or gray. When fiddling with it in PhotoShop, the majority of the color was contained in the "Cyan" range.

I think if they went with the shade shown on that wiki page, it would've been much more appealing (to me).

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET! 8-O :-D

One of my all time favorite figures (why did the bad guys always get the cool outfits) in a very interesting new color scheme!

Makes me wish we were getting more than just two of these in the set. I wonder if there's any way to buy extras? :shifty:

Now -- let's see 'em get that interesting but complex insignia on a HeadHunter Stormtrooper...! :-D

The color is definitely louder than the original. But the only way to stay as subdued as the original would be to stay black with different details. So I'm glad it isn't that boring.

I think we also need to keep in mind that they are trying to make a different classification of HH with this one. It being the HH Guard kind of makes it so that it would be the same as comparing a Cobra Officer to a Stinger Driver: not intended to replace the original.

I don't like two things: 1. the painted accessories. I like RAH sculpts to fit in with the rest of my RAH figures. If I wanted extra paint decos and high details, I expect that from newly sculpted toys. When they put an abundance of details on original sculpts, it feels a little stuck-in-the-middle and they don't look right mingling with the rest. So I'd prefer single-color accessories.

2. The Cobra logo. Having the HH absorbed into Cobra bugged me with the GvC Headman and still bugs me now. I'd prefer separate factions to stay separate just for the Joe world to me a more complex place.

I like the figure but the lack of paint on the belts bothers me. If they paint those, this would be a much better figure.

I'm glad that they have this mold. Makes me wonder why we saw the same handful of figures when Hasbro was releasing figures, though.

I LOVE the actual figure. No, it doesn't compare to the original, but I still love this figure. The color is sort of neat. Sad...seems most don't like it but it will still go for insane amounts on the secondary market.

Looks like he bought his suit at the "urban" store in the mall and added the studded shoulderpad for more bling.
Just not feeling this and I love me some HH :(
