Damn - wish I had taken some "before" shots so you could see the difference.....

Anyway, on the way home from work tonight I stopped off to try & find some Wave 7 Joes -- no luck. As I was snagging a 2-pack of Indy German soldiers, I walked by the Hulk section. I wasn't too impressed - the figures all looked a little big for my 'verse (I like Hulk at about 8ft tall.) But I liked the sculpt for the regular non-action-attack Hulk, so I grabbed him.

My only real beef with him was his 25A Ace-like googly eyes. But I figured since the head was 3 times bigger than a Joe's, I might have luck in re-painting the eyes (since I can't do "LASER BLAST" on a 1:18 head.)

So I brought him home, started working on the eyes - got them where I wanted them and then gave his entire body a dry-brushing of Deep Green to make it look less like a toy. Then I noticed that he still looked off, and I realized - they didn't give him any eyebrows! So I fixed that, gave his pants a Midnight Blue/Purpley wash, drybrushed some green into his hair and called him done.

And after measuring the fig, at 1:18 scale he's actually about 8'7", so that's good enough.

With my custom "Smart Hulk" (my default until now):

And with the gang:

And like I'm gonna drop $23 on a crappy repaint Hummer:

If anyone happens to have this fig and wants to post a "before" shot for me for comparison, I'd be most appreciative. :D

Cheers!

Nice! Much more realistic than the factory version.

You should get the Hummer though. It's a sweet little retool with the breaking hood and all. The kids love it! I do wish it had the SHIELD logos though.

Dan, that does look great. I hit TRU today, and almost picked a Hulk up (actually I got distracted, and never got back to that section).

See something shiny? ;)

Thanks guys -- I'm having a lot of fun with him - between "improved" Hulk & "improved" Indy, I've got the two most playable, fun customs I've had in a while :D

I wish it were that simple. I had my daughter with me. She wanted every toy she saw (wonder where she gets that from??). Then she had to go to the bathroom, but didn't want to go in the men's room, and I wasn't about to go in the lady's room. So in this case the four year old lost. By the time that was over I'd forgotten all about Hulk- I got nothing from TRU. Did hit KB and picked up some Indy German two-packs, and some other Indy figures. Then GTA 4 at the mall. So I didn't miss Hulk that much ;-) .

Good job I don't have any idea what the production HUlK looks like beyond Toyfair and this does look better.

Wow, nice work on this, Dan. I was on the fence about picking this one up but you may have convinced me.

That's cool. I was looking at that particular version as being the best suit for the Showdown scale line.

Thanks guys! I've been fighting the temptation to pick up another one to "gray" him up (but I always envisioned Gray Hulk/Fixit as a smaller dude, so I may need a different base fig.)

Marvel Showdown Juggernaut legs/waist, Showdown Hulk chest/arms, and Movie Superman "angry face" head --- pour ingredients into a pot and mix well ;)

Oh and thanks Chief, now I need to try and paint eyebrows on my hulk figure.

No, so I can claim he has a hook hand when I give him gloves. :shifty:

Actually, I was talking scale wise. I've been using a ML Hulk but that might change.
