B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L !

Now all you need is the steps/ramp and a DHD.

That's a resin cast of the type I used 2 years ago in the first chapter of my "Star('Gate) Wars" line!

It was originally 2 bases from the Ertl plastic "Stargate" model kits with the discs cut out of the centers.

Very nice paint job on this!

I have since moved up to the "full sized" 'Gates from the Diamond Select Toys line for the 'Gates in Chapters 2 + 3 of my Saga.

I've heard there were some major quality issues with this kit. Did you notice anything?

Okay, hang on. You need 7 chevrons to dial to a gate within your own galaxy - 6 to 'box' the target gate + 1 for your point of origin gate/star. An 8th chevron is needed to traverse to another galaxy.

So, does a 9th chevron take you to another universe since there's no organizational level greater than a galaxy?

/Oh yeah; nice paintwork as always but it still seems a tad too smallish.

It hasn't been said what the 9th chevron does yet and its possible that it will be the focus of whatever the next spin-off series is.

Sorry, didn't mean to go OT there but I didn't want AV to fret on this for, like, ever ;)

And yeah, nice paint work John. Did you do a basecoat and then weather it with drybrushing? I'm curious because I plan to cast the Diamond Select gate and some point and the painting it question is one I haven't quite figured out yet.

Thanks for the comments.
Chris, no quality control issues. As for the paint, I primed the main sections with black, then panted various shades of gray, brown, silver, copper, and blue.

Very cool...Looks like it was cast in a tansparent Amber Resin? How much work would it have been to add some LEDs in at each Chevron?...is there space inside the disk for them?

I've not looked...but is this kit pretty common on ebay or somthing that'll only pop up every now and again?

John,

That gate looks awsome. You really did a good job on it. I want to get one, but am scared of quality issues. Yours leans me more to getting one. 2 Good ones vs the 1 Bad one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargate_Universe

Stargate Universe
Main article: Stargate Universe
Stargate Universe is the working title for a third Stargate series which is currently in development. According to producer Robert C. Cooper, the concept will revolve around the ninth chevron on the Stargate.

Enough here to only make AV twitch and complain about lack of info.

Well, anyone wants this one it's $35 shipped (It actually cost me $37). I'd like to put the money towards a larger one.
