I've never thought to look at the old Indy stuff. Man, it'd be sweet if they made another Well of Souls playset:

On a side note I think they could do the Map Room as a deluxe figure very easily.

I don't think the swastika will really lose its 'power' until there are no more people that have personal memories of the Holocaust. There are still plenty of people that have memories of the Nazi scumbags and what they did. I'd give it another 20 years until everyone that lived thru the Holocaust have passed on.

Perversely, while there probably aren't as many people that have personal memories of racists doing racist stuff in connection to the Stars-n-Bars; those memories are probably from a more recent time than WWII since lynchings were still going on well up into the 60s. So it'll probably be a longer time until the S-n-B loses its 'power'.

And yeah, if Hasbro somehow happens to have the molds for the Map Room they could very easily simply release it as a $10 deluxe set and I'd very simply scarf one up. I've passed on the other deluxe sets simply because I don't like action features, all I want are diosets and stuff.

Hum, you know I'm not sure how by the rules to approach the Swastika topic. I mean it is the symbol of a thankfully dead political system so it really wouldn't fall under politics that way. But the symbol is still used by hate groups so it does have some modern context. Yet we can all agree that we should remember so that such evil will never be allowed again and to remember the heroes who saved the world from madness.

I can see though where Hasbro wouldn't want to go near a Hitler figure even if he was in an Indie movie more than some Star Wars toys were in the Star Wars movies.

I realize from a PC point of view that a major toy company (like Hasbro) can't put the symbol of the worst organizations of WWII on a toy.

At what point though, does any symbol lose its power and conotation?

I don't want this to go political, by any means.

To me, the Nazi symbol (Swastika) is a reminder of what happened. It's real history and a visual reminder of of why it can't happen again. 'Nuff said.

Would people be up in arms if Hasbro released a 25th figure of Cross-Country v2 (with the big Rebel flag) across the back?

Are there other action figure toylines with accurate symbols?

I'm guessing we as a whole have not gotten to the point where we would readily accept historically accurate toys at retail in the toy aisle.

Mods-please delete this post if it is a problem.
We won't delete it but let's steer clear of this politically charged debate about what historical insignias should or shouldn't be on toys and why. The topic is a can of worms best not fully discussed on the board. I hope everyone can understand that and thank you for handling so maturely up to this point.

I am also scratching my head a bit about the map room. I think a new sculpt of it is in order. The old one is nice, but it is pretty small and 1-piece. I think a modern take on it would be really nice. But map room Indy was already release with the ark....which he was never seen with in that outfit.

Still, I'd like a Map room to be released and would buy a different map room Indy to get it. (I'd also like an ark that has the loops and the bars to carry it)

Uh, someone say an Ark that's carryable? (not as nice of a design as the Indy ark though) :shifty: http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/ ... 2805|86946 :shifty:

got one on discount from a store that was moving to a new location.

20 years ago...probably not...however in today's current climate where people who suffer from hang nails have their own lobbying group...probably.

IN fact I remember a few years ago someone made a custom of Cross-Country with the confederate flag on his belt and some people were complaining about it saying the liked the custom but could of done without the flag.

Now I'm a "Yankee" through and through and think the entire "the south will rise again" speech is amazingly stupid, however with that being said I still think that people for the most part nowadays need to chill the frig out.

I've read a couple of Q&A's on the net, and from what I gather, the reason for the wonky paint apps on the heads is because Hasbro went with a new factory for this line, and there were some hiccups. The way the figures are, you'd kind of expect that they were being made alongside the Star Wars figures, but evidently SW has its own factory. They also had a very short period of time to develop the line. From that, I expect to see some improvements in the upcoming series.

Discusses the Toht figure (2009  ) and also addresses the Nazi insignia question posed earlier in this thread.

Not much of a suprise there, with the Last Crusade and Temple of Doom waves already announced, I can see those easily being all we get for the rest of the year.

I just picked up the jungle cutter and an extra Russian. I was holding off buying the cutter and more Russians until after I saw the movie. While it did about as much as the flying wing in ROTLA, it's still a nice vehicle in regards to play value. I'm going to do a head swap on the Russian. His neck ball looks to be pretty close to 25th anniversary size.

After getting the cutter out and playing around with it, I can totally see Hasbro borrowing the entire bottom and tracks to make a 25th Wolverine.
