COOL BREEZE. A member of the G.I. Joe team specializing in reconnaissance. Cool Breeze joined the Joe team shortly before the Joes fought their biggest battle yet in the Middle Eastern nation of Benzheen. As part of the recon team, Cool Breeze angered Stalker by displaying what he thought was "hubris", or arrogant pride. He believed absolutely that he and the rest of the team were the best at what they do, and couldn't be beaten. Stalker felt Cool Breeze saw the whole operation as a big joke. Cool Breeze seemigly risked his life by placing radio jamming equipment in the path of what he believed to be an enemy helicopter. Though the 'copter, turned out to be full of Joes, Cool Breeze still impressed the Joes with his selfless actions. When the rest of his team picked him up, Cool Breeze saw the rebel leader Faoud aiming to shoot Stalker. Cool Breeze tried to stop the rebel and took the bullet meant for Stalker, dying moments later. Along with the other Joes who died in Benzheen, Cool Breeze was given a hero's funeral in Arlington National Cemetary. (GI 111, 112)

The results indicate a couple of interesting things.

1. Comic characters have less visibility than cartoon characters.

More respondents said they didn't know who Billy (4%) or Dr. Venom (5%) were than Pythona (2%) or Big Lob (2%).

2. Comic characters are more loved/rabidly sought.

Fewer respondents said they wouldn't buy a Billy figure (10%) or Dr. Venom figure (9%) than said they wouldn't buy a Pythona figure (18%) or a Big Lob figure (29% wow!).

Even if you add the "I don't know this character" response numbers to the "I wouldn't buy it" the numbers show that respondents wanted Pythona and Big Lob figures LESS than they wanted Dr. Venom or Billy figures.

That result is almost mirrored in the "character I want most" question, where the ranking is tight among the top 3: Billy (31%), Pythona (29%), Dr. Venom (27%). Few respondents wanted a Big Lob figure (10%).

But looking at the "figure I want least" Big Lob is way out front (47%), followed by the top 3 contenders: Pythona (22%), Dr. Venom (17%) and Billy (12%).

Conclusions

It looks like Hasbro would do well to include Billy and Dr. Venom in two separate comic packs, as fans of the comics seem to really want them. Selling them together would likely create a shelfwarmer pack as overall recognition on these characters is poor. But coupling them with more popular characters would likely please fans and sell units.

If they included Pythona in a DVD pack, it would likely work since fans appear to be lukewarm about her (strong negatives). A single pack would likely be a bad idea.

Big Lob, apparently, is still unpopular.

I find it interesting that a lot of people disliked Big Lob,... but would probably buy him if they made a figure of him...

Ok heres a question......How could people say that the "figure I want least" but would still buy him if they made a figure be the same thing? I totally don't see that. People are saying they don't want a figure of him period. They aren't saying that if one was made they'd buy him anyways.

Where did you see that they would buy one if he was made? I didnt see that anywhere.
I know personally my joe verse is just fine without him in it.
I guess it's because I'm not a fan of sports, but my least favorite joes have always been the sports related joes like Fridge, Capt. Gridiron etc.

Well, you gotta figure in completionists, customizers who might not like the character but would find a use for parts from the figure, etc...

The only reasonable conclusion I can reach is Joecustoms has more hardcore comic fans than of the toon.

Big Lob isn't even a great representative of the toon-only characters anyway. Hector Ramirez and Matthew Burke, for example, are much more appealing characters to be made into figures.

I never got people's strange obsession with Billy. He's the Wesley Crusher of GIJoe. Horrible character.

They're saying they want him less than Venom, Billy, or Pythona but a lot of them would buy him anyway.

Anyway, while I'm not going to close the poll, I think it's ran long enough to get a good feel fro the results.

Less people know who Billy and Venom are than Pythona and Big Lob. However the demand for the comic characters are slightly stronger.

Big Lob is obviously the least wanted of the group, but there's still more people that would buy him that not.

Despite the comic characters having generally a stronger demand, when asked which of the four people ant most, Pythona ranks right up there with Billy and Venom, passing them at times, depending on when you check the poll results.

There are more people that have watched the cartoons than read the comics.
