Here's another factor as to why I don't think the CORPS will change anytime soon. Right now, their current figure design doesn't resemble any G.I.Joe presently available. It's not that close to the traditional-styles offered by the Club, nor is it especially close to the 25th Anniversaries. It's SOMEWHAT close to the newsculpts, but even here, there are notable differences. I'd say that design-wise, the Corps has found something of a structural identity of its own, and maybe that's what Lanard wanted.

Yea they are so much structural identity of thier own that they copied what GI JOE came out with in the original New Sculpt phrase http://www.yojoe.com/action/02/frostbite4.shtml with the T-crotch and such.
So how can copying what someone else do make it thier own structural identity? Just cause Hasbro went back to the O-ring cause the fans didn't like the T-Crotch design?

I assume he means, that because they are the only ones currently using the design that when someone looks at it they will know where it is from and not just think of them as knock offs. So while yes it copies a concept already done, it is how they are helping their product from looking like eveyon elses. If I recall correctly Mego had a similar style to the 3 3/4 inch figures in 1979 before GI Joe got their's in 1982, but we all still identify it a joe articulation. But hey I'm only guessing as to what was meant.

*A-hem*, MicroNauts, licensed from Takara's MicroMan line from the early 70s. Joeticulation was actually a step down from Microticulation as Joes didn't have ankle or wrist joints. Joe's didn't exceed Micros until the swivel-arm beer grip came along.

As to CRAPS going 25A, didn't I hear somewhere that Hasbro has a patent on the VOTC joint manufacturing process, or something along those lines? If so, I'd think CRAPS would go more to a low BnB engineering style, minus the ab crunch joint. Whatever, if they'd get rid of that weak-ass t-crotch, I'd buy some of them without tossing them straight in the trash can when I get them along with a vehicle I actually do want.

I've picked up all the latest releases, the headsculpts are interesting. Not holding my breath on any added articulation tho, especially since the line just got something of a facelift. The hip articulation or different construction styles likely don't even register with most kids, but that price point sure does with their parents. Corps! figures move pretty briskly for a so-called knockoff!

I've also noticed that not only the Corps stuff, but other toy companies have this written on their packages..."compatible with other 3.75/3.50 action figures"

so what does that tell you, they are wanting us, the consumer, to customize with the other toy lines and use their product for that use. Brilliant ???

It's kind of funny you should mention that. As a kid I never really had a lot of any one action figure line until G.I.Joe came out. So my handfull of Micronauts, Adventure People, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Zorro, Clash of the Titans and a couple of Star Wars figures used to all hang out and play together in one "world". Even when the Joes first came out they joined the group but then came along swivel arm battle grip. And with that the Joes took over my collecting because they had the superior articulation (even the A-Team couldn't compete).
I'm glad a good amount of toy lines are going back to the 3 3/4" size so that kids can have their various toys interact with each other and be in the same "world" like I used to have (The Prince Caspian, Indiana Jones and Luke Skywalker Adventure Team) and it brings in a lot more parts and items for customizing. I just really wish the level of articulation was the same on all the various lines (for the good that is...I don't want figures devolving back to barely articulated statues).
Sorry to digress there...
As far as the CORPS changing...I doubt it. I hope they in some way add decent hip articulation back in but I'm not holding my breath on it happening anytime soon.

Snikt may have been referring to the early Mego lines like Buck Rogers and Black Hole that were exactly like straight-arm Joes from '82.

Actually I was about to say that...I remember when I first got Breaker, Zap, Scarlet, and Flash, since I didn't have any bad guys, I would use the Buck Rogers villians as bad guys and Buck and his companions would assist with what ever adventure I concocted at the time. to me they had the same build so I thought it was natural to use them together. I kept my Star wars figures out of the mix because they were different in there construction but I did use the spaceships as advanced fighters. Although the only major break I ever made was when I got my Indiana Jones, he was built different but he still helped the Joes.

Why change styles when CORPS figure swapping is alive and well? I couldn't believe it when I saw someone had replaced the newer characters with older ones.

Gotta' love CORPS figures. When it comes to civvies for your dio or play needs, you really can't beat them. Not to mention their Adventure sets were beyond awesome. Now if they were able to join forces with Chap Mei, imagine Chap Mei's penchant for details, with the CORPS previous poseability.

A force to recon with.

Yea but they don't offer them anymore. Since the new sculpt figs came along they don't do civvies. Its all about the military corps figs now.
Now if they came out with a way to keep the figs relatively the same but came back with the O-ring kinda like Joes did I think that may work. Plus getting some new military vehicles again would be awesome as well.

Actually in Ohio, the new Bio wing figures looked less military, more like firefighting spotters with winged gliders. of course it is hard to hide the molded on grenades on the chest, adn big a** combat knife.
