Or perhaps another "Cowboy" theme involving football. Not actually using Dallas Cowboy players or logo etc in the set, but creating a football themed battle set using the Fridge, Bazooka, and Capt. Grid Iron. Texas is known for its love of football. Just speculating/dreaming. :-/

The Iron Genadiers were a winter theme? Wow I totally missed that part. is that why they used the night viper mold for them?

The "battle" took place in the former Soviet Union, known for its cold temperatures. Honestly, I made the same association, even though the con took place in the summer.

See I didn't associate that, just becuse it was in the former SU doesn't make is Siberia but I can see how some would make that leep. The SB camo pattern was way more Urban looking then cold weather.

The con sets have only gone with the location in 2004 just like Justin said. The Most wanted set had nothing to do with New Orleans. and The Tanks set in Atlanata was set at Fort. Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado no Atlanta.

Exactly, and Brian has to know that. From HighSchool thru the pros Texas loves football. That and I can finally get a Capt. gridiron.

I thought it was supposed to have been the Rocky Mountain Arsenal which don't even have ANY kind of hand guns or guns period except on the guards. No museum either.

I was thinking the same thing. I am happy with coming up with good sets with a theme. That theme doesn't have to do anything with the place the con is held IMO.

Minneapolis and the winter theme that year?

Just because both places were cold? I never made that connection, and honestly I don't think it was intended, considering no other set was "themed" like that. They specifically designed the Dreadnok set to coincide with the 4th of July (when the Con was held) and the Orlando location. Besides that set, no theme corrosponded to where the Con was held.

I think it's safe to assume the Minneapolis/winter theme was just happy coincidence...

Justin

i'm tempted to go.. I was going to go to WizardWorld Chicago again, but I've been there almost every year since 99. It gets old. The Wife actually would rather go to Dallas, she didn't like WizardWorld. (First thing that happens when we get in there is we smell really bad B.O., the crowd's and lines were horrendous, people always stop in the middle of the damn aisle and have conversations ((just move to the F'N side already)) and there were some weirdo's dressed up like the Lost Boys trying to act like they were really tough....just weird.)

I'll have to wait to see what the figures are.

Any word on the theme so we can start guessing on figs and paintjobs and vehicles and junk?

I'm guessing that since it's in Dallas they'll have to go with some dumbass western theme and give us a set centered around Wild Bill, probably in his Battle Corps uniform.

I think I'd like a set with Wild Bill, hell, he's a shoe-in for the set due to the location anyway. As for vehicles, after the Mauler debacle, other than maybe a small attendee exclusive, I'd rather they just stop making vehicles altogether & focus soley on figures. 'Sides, it's less things I have to buy & a heck of alot easier to pack for the trip home.

I agree with the drop the "large" vehicles. I say go with small vehicles (Armadillo, Ferrits, ect) and playsets like the Mountain Howitzer, Outpost Defender, Cobra Rifle range, ect. I mean how cool would the Cobra's Most Wanted set had the shooting range with Joe targets as an exclusive playset instead of the Warthog??

Happy coincidence -- kind of like your attendance & the Pride Parade?

Ah, yes the pride parade. There's nothing quite like trying to leave on that Sunday with a five year old and having the parade going on directly in front of where we parked. Luckily I was able to get out of there before he saw it, he likes parades, and I don't think I would have been up to 'splaining this to him.

Not to change the subject, but I've pretty much talked myself out of going. I'll try to catch the '09 Con, but until then, here's hoping the mighty Joecustoms.com Trivia Team makes it two in a row!
