It's funny, this started when I was messing around with my DCIH collection and thought to myself, "Hey, wouldn't my old Toy Island Terminator make a decent Metallo?"
Of course after digging it out... his proportions really didn't blend well with the DCIH figures.
So I could have just left it at that, but now I WANTED a Metallo with my DCIH. And then I remembered Sears had a figure on clearance that would work nicely:

Quick and easy mods. Repainted the hair a more realistic color (and less sloppily), gave him glowy green Kryptonite-powered eyes, painted the arm band black and fixed up the left boot, since part of it was left unpainted.

I sort of want to do something with that Hydrobot accessory of his... Any of you guys think it could work if I modded the tip of it to fit in his wrist as some sort of extendo-claw hand? He seemed to have some weird super-transformational abilities in Superman/Batman: Public Enemies...

(Why is it whenever I make a custom, no matter how minor the mod, I always end up telling a long story to explain it?)

At a friend's suggestion, I made his hair a dirty blond-ish to match his STAS appearance.
Also took the opportunity to give him some lighter green pupils, although I'm now wishing I'd had a neon-er green to make them appear glowing:

(is it just me or does he look a bit like James Marsters?)

Very cool, my only suggestion would be to dremel out a cavity inhis chest to put a piece of kryptonite in. Other than that I say he's awesome.

Rationalizations take a while to rationalize ;) These look good but remind me of the also cringe-inducing Playmates Terminator figures. Only better than those.

I thought about it but the torso has so little flesh exposed I want to keep that chunk of flesh coming across where Metallo traditionally keeps his Kryptonite heart.
Granted, I may well take some creative liberties and put the heart in that exposed area on the left side of his chest.
I'd just need to find something that can work as Kryptonite.

A little clear green over the green of the eyes should give them that glowing look.

Actually I'd put in the skeleton portion deadcenter above that piece of flesh but below the neck. First it would look better cetnered. Second, you won't have to worry about the whole you need to create ruining the should joint. Keep your out for toy rings that have a green stone in them or any random see through green plastic.

That's not a bad idea, thanks!
And yeah, digging into the shoulder joint was exactly why I was hesitant to do this.

No Kryptonite Heart yet... but there's this. It failed horribly as a wrist attachment... but at the elbow...

interesting take on Metallo. How about http://hunterartworks.ecrater.com/p/776 ... individual ? One of the two at the 9 inch line there might look good. That's his individual priced ones.

I would LOVE to do that, but I'm nowhere near that good and that was the last Marcus in the area, so I can't get any spares to try it on first.

Yeah, that's one of my options, but I'm going to check and see if there's anything closer to home that I can use first.

You know I just thought of this- how about part of one of those clear green missles that came with some of the ROC figures??

That's not a bad idea, but the green just isn't deep enough for my liking.
Maybe I should try hitting dollar stores for toy jewelry.

This is great. Last I saw of Metallo he was a massive robot although I am not sure how that happened.
