Hey guys, I need your honest feedback here. Let me know what you think, the quality, the general look. I don't want to influence your critique, so I won't comment first. I will explain later the general context.

So, here we go:

So, how is the quality (on 10)? How much would you pay for it?

Honestly, honest. On a scale of 1-10, maybe a 5. It isn't bad. The spray paint is clean. But the two tone doesn't really pop either. The black snake on the hull is almost invisible and it looks like almost all the rest were just sprayed over instead of removed.

I wouldn't pay any more for it than I would a Moray in similar condition that hasn't been customized. Sorry.

I think you should have either removed the stickers better, or glued small styrene plates over them to make them look more like steel plates.

Other than that, the paint coverage is pretty even - the sticker on the bottom is tough to see ... and you're missing a missile.

All that being said, it's a 6 or so.

I can't answer the 'how much' because I have 6 morays in my garage, waiting for me to customize...

It is pretty nice. The bottom stickers would look better in silver. Cobra Stickers http://www.cobrastickers.com/index.php? ... 30f7ee6cd4 red stickers might work better.
So that's next year's Canada Con exclusive? :D
I still have to customize my Joe version to the one on the package. Or I might just use Navy gray which would be similar to yours but not shiny.

Needs something to make it pop. It seems really basic.

I repainted mine in Haze Grey and it looks awesome, still needs more deckguns though.
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=28248&hilit=kraken

But yours looks to be moving in a similar vein, so you may need to cut some of the gloss from the finish.
Also score some better decals, l'd give it a 6.5 overall. . .

After taking a second, third, and fourth look at this, I'm able to see a few things I had missed the previous times.

1) Pics were taken on a black surface and the lower part of the Moray is black. Can't see the work you put into this since it all blends together.

2) Besides the missing missile and the decals, the wing under the port side (left) gun needs touched up.

3) The searchlight lens is missing and the starboard rear (right rear) section of the Moray is broken. There is a piece cracked right off.

As for a price, I don't actively go around buying Morays in the first place, so if I saw this at a yard sale or flea market I'd offer $10.

Not digging the decal on the side. Should be silver on black to make it stand out a bit, it. Looks tacked on.
The silver could be better sprayed, but with some minor drybrushing, it would make the whole thing pop.

I wouldn't sell it in the current condition. If you're looking to sell it, I would go with restickering it at a minimum. You need quality stickers and to match the base level of glossiness so that the stickers don't stand out.

The issue is that if you are going to pay incorporate someone else's custom vehicle into your collection, it should bring something to the table that the retail release did not. It should also bring something special that is beyond your talents to do yourself. I know that you are a great scratch builder, so maybe you need to focus on that.

Want to make it pop? Give it a working search light, or upgrade the guns to something dramatic. Replace the nav screens in the cockpit with one of those cheap mini photo display key-chain viewing screens, with navigational map pictures that make it look like the boat is moving across the gulf. Instead of going silver alone, give it a silver and blue with paintwipe motif to match the 2000 era figures. Paint it in a scheme that makes it useful in an environmental setting like the arctic, matches a real life thing that people are interested in (like a coast guard ship) or match with an existing team color.

These are the sort of things that make people want to pay for a custom.

I think it's a good start. Clean up the paint. Replace the melted engine cover. Give it all the missing parts or replace them with upgrades. Definitely get some high quality stickers. That snake on the hull is embarrassingly cheap looking. Throw in a custom driver or full crew to go with it.

You don't have to go overboard. No need to paint every sculpted detail but put some more effort into it. As is I wouldn't pay for this at all. I'd just as soon buy an un-modified one and customize it myself. But put in that extra work to really make this unique and you'll have something someone will want.

Good catch on the engine cover, also seems to be missing the exhaust pipes too.

The Water Mocassin sticker looks to be a water slide one..or printed on clear sticker paper...

Not related with the CJC... in fact, it's not even close to the quality the CJC give us so far ;-)

If you want it, I can sell it to you

Hi guys!

Thanks so much everyone!! Here is the story behind this... it's not my custom... I bought it from a store. I was hoping for more quality. Like some of you rated 5/10, 6/10.... this is not the quality I was expecting.

Original price for this was $124.99. I got it on sale for $69.99. I told the seller I wasn't happy with it. He offers me a 50% refund then a full refund. I knew this was a custom. So, I know I shouldn't expect factory quality. But the seller didn't told me everything about the missing or broken parts. In fact, the only things I knew were the one in bold below.

So, your feedback confirms me what I thought. Since you guys saw a lot of custom items, I'm reassured that I'm not the only one not liking it. I mean, maybe I was the only one not liking it as is... but there are a lot of issue with it. You pretty much see everything:

Missing parts:
- 4 rear guns
- The muffler
- Both windshields
- 1 one the 4 front yellow missile
- Search light lens

Broken parts:
- The motor cover is melted
- The back frame is broken
- Side guns are both broken

Overall:
- Painting was made over the stickers
- As for the SNAKE sticker on the side: It looks like someone just took his black sharpie and draw over the SNAKE
- The general paint application is like this:

Image

The thing I'm the most sad about is I'm loosing the cost of shipping it back. So it's about $25... But, I learned something!
