I agree... The purple ones seemed more fitting.

I do like the purple, but I like the new ones for a more real world feel.
Right now I'm having major issues with upsizing the head- all of the ridges around the face are collapsing (same issues I had with the Prime head I tried to upsize a few months back). I'm going to call the Hydrospan tech guys and see if there's something I can do about it. I think it's because of the pressure pot.

John,
To rough up the gloves did you think about using some acrylic paint and just brushing it on. That could work and since it is water based may adhere to the gloves a bit. I like the new stickers they do a more real world look to Devestator which is what I think you'r going for.

Got a chance to check this out in person today. LOOKS AWESOME! There are tons of little details, like a fire extinguisher in the cabs of some of the vehicles, hydraulics, etc etc. Really nice work John

I know the Upsizing things is your thing...but did you consider scratch building the Head?

TF heads aren't much more than boxes with kibble and would be easier than other things to build out of styrene sheets and such...

I'm in awe of your dedication to a project,...where I flirt between various never completed projects...you've taken on a huge one and damn-near completed it...bravo for that.

All in all I still really don't like the hips...and they nearly ruin the whole thing for me...Devastator being as wide at the hips as he is at the shoulders just dosn't flow right... I don't really have a suggestion for changing it...especially now that you've come along as far as you have...not sure there's much else to change it to

the hips don't bother me at all. It's a robot so for me it isn't going to be anatomically human. It's going to be a machine and those hips look good to me. um ..yeah...I think I've spent enough time commenting on a fictional robot's hips. Time to go to sleep

I appreciate any and all comments. I know you can never please all people all the time, so in this case I went with what looks right for me. Or what items I had to work with. I'm happy with him. Are there things I would go back and change? Sure. But do they bother me enough that I actually would? No.
Again, thanks for all the feedback! :-D

"I know the Upsizing things is your thing...but did you consider scratch building the Head?"

I've thought of using a block of wood and taking it from there. Though I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to make it look good.

I think the c0ck piece remedied the wide stance issue. I don't really notice it anymore.

Everytime I look at this it gets more awesome. This is definitely one of those projects that will be talked about for years to come. :-)

I'm not much of a big Transformer fan but even I have to say this is AWESOME!

For a head you probably wouldn't want to use it but why not one of those voice changer Optimus Prime helmets if you can find one at a yard sale etc.?

Thanks for the feedback!

So any of you know of a place I can sent this TF head to to have it upsized? I recall there being a place that does it my computer mapping the item, then cutting it out of a resin type plastic. I forget the details.

i didn't even think of that !

3-D resin prototyping! that's a great idea!

another way to do it would be to have it computer-routed out of a block of wood, or laser cut out of wood, plastic, or aluminum!

of course, none of those are gonna be cheap...aaand i have no suggestions on a vendor resource...

sorry, John..

I have a prospect that offers laser scanning, but upsizing is always tricky because any defects will get bigger, and two the Copyright on it could really turn somone off to talking with you.

I'd first suggest if you know anyone who could build you a CAD model that you could take to a rapid prototyper - either way I'll give the name of the laser scanner guy he's cheap arse and not looking to buy advertising from me (and yet here i am feffering folks ...man I am a HO) they could refer you to rapid prototyper

Here's an update . . .
I hired Curtis Ingvoldstad, a professional Wood Sculptor to make the head for me. Here's a link to his site. . .
http://www.woodsculpture.net/

I should have the head by the end of November.
