Hasbro owns the rights to the molds, but not the names or likenesses, so it's not going to be Street Fighter.

And I don't think they'll do another Crimson set, there's been way too much of it the past few years.

I think that means Action Force in a new, perhaps theatre specific, deco.

Quote:
"I see my image reflected back,
And who is that person not wearing black?"

I think that means somone who looks like joe, but not quite (as the image in a mirror is reversed), and villians wear black, so the reflected person is a hero.

Quote:
"I am you, and you are me,
That's why we have our own army."

I believe that is a reference to being allies

Quote:
"We battle in foreign lands but NOT in the shadows.
You've seen us before, but now we bend more."

I believe this refers to the Action Force story line, and it specifically states they are NOT in the Red Shadows. The bend more refers to the initial Palitoy figures having little articulation.

Quote:
that is sooooo RED SHADOWS or Action Force

I say The RED SHADOWS

I'd have to say Action Force.

If they do Action Force I might finally buy my first convention set... :shifty:

I still think everyone is reading too much into it, to make it what they want it to be. I would be very surprised if it was Red Shadows. As I've said before, I think its popularity is vastly overestimated. And as much as I don't think I want to see it, I think you could interpret the clues to read Tomax/Xamot/CGs as well, at least with the same certainty.

While I think your interpretation of the clues has a reasonable basis, the Club would be insane to make a Crimson Guard set with Tomax and Xamot. Why?

(1) The club already did that with the 2002 convention set, albeit with Vipers instead of CGs.
(2) RAH Crimson Guards were done to death in the VvV era. Operation Crimson Sabotage, Crimson Guard Force, Crimson Shadow Guard - anybody that wants CGs either already has them or can easily get them.
(3) Even Tomax and Xamot have been done enough times already - RAHC, 2002 convention set, and the Crimson Guard Force.

While I personally think that it will be the Red Shadows, with a smaller possibility of SKAR, and an even smaller possibility of being something else entirely, it definitely will not be a Crimson Guard set.

Either way it turns out to be (Red Shadows or SKAR), I think they're a welcome addition to the con set releases.

Im not up on all the foreign stuff so excuse me if I speak in ignorance.

I think the mirror reflection bit is talking about a chromed headed figure. (CC Destro) so maybe it speaks of Red Jackal? Cause he does give off a reflection yet he does not wear black. What team was he in?

my thoughts

Black Major

Action Force Commander
Image

Same mold, different colors. One is wearing black. Who is not wearing black? That would be the AF commander

I Reckon Matthew's got this mystery solved. That's where I'd lay my money, were I a bettin' man (or at all interested in non-25th Joes anymore).

Yeah. 25th style Red Shadows would be a phenomenal con set. Even so, if they do a good job I like the Shadows enough that I'll probably get one, even though my focus is on 25th.

And there are those for whom a 25th-style Convention Set would result in the exact opposite reaction. :-/ Each to their own, and not wanting to start an argument that's been beaten to death already, just offering the opposing view. There's still no shortage of traditional-style fans out there.

I'm not as familiar as I'd like to be with the earliest days of Action Force (pre G.I.Joe-style figures), but I know it has its fans, and I know that in the UK, their comic adventures did pretty much throw everyone together. I think a convention set focusing on those characters could be extremely interesting. Might make my custom Red Shadows figures a little superfluous, but I'll live with that. :-D

Didn't someone say last yr that the Club couldn't do 25th style figures for another 2 yrs or so. So you wouldn't have to worry bout that Trekker.

You know, I was almost sold on it being an Action Force set. You guys almost had me convinced. But now that I've had more time to think about it, I'm going back (kind of) to my original guess: It's going to be a Tomax/Xamot CG or Crimson Viper set, with the big surprise being they got to do it in 25th style. That would make all of the clues fit.

"Imagine something old and something new,
Something foreign and nothing blue."

Something old in that we've already seen this set, more or less. Something new in that it's a new style, and maybe CG's instead of Vipers.

"I see my image reflected back,
And who is that person not wearing black?"

"I am you, and you are me,
That's why we have our own army."

These two couldn't be more obviously Tomax/Xamot.

"We battle in foreign lands but NOT in the shadows.
You've seen us before, but now we bend more."

The only clue that didn't really fit. Sure the shadows part might be a reference to the Shadow Guard subset, but the "now we bend more" part didn't really fit. Unless they are now 25th style. This appearing in an overseas auction sure doesn't hurt my argument much either!
