edit: Added pic of new paint job. Will be adding all new pics to the first post as they come.

This is my first figure using my new custom process. The process guarantees 100% that there will be no loss of color in the joints. And the color on high profile spots is virtually chip proof.

The paint job on this figure did not turn out how I wanted, but it is just a prototype. I need a small flat brush to do the camo the way I want, then I can start mass producing these. The brown-gray on the legs will be thinner and more abundant, and the green on the vest will be smaller blotches and have many more of them so the white to green ratio is about even.

I really dig the vest as is, I just think I'd prefer the arms and legs to stay plain white, or maybe a light gray.

This is why I decided not to do solid white.

Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's curious. So eh, what's the secret?

It's a bootleg so there is no paint in the joints to rub off. :)

I like where you're going. I prefer the green camo on the vest over the designs on the arms and legs....and I think you should stick to just one camo pattern...two different patterns is going to make the figure look too busy.

Are the figures custom cast?
Are you casting the figures yourself, or having sombody else do it?
Or has sombody tooled up a set of viper molds as well...I'm aware of Cobra troopers and the upcoming CGs?

I cast the complete Viper, all 20 parts (well 21 if you count the arm pin mold). You can see in the last pic part of the upper leg did not cast. There are 3 or 4 parts I need to tweak on the molds.

About the camo. Since I cast these in white I wanted to break up the figures a bit, it was too much white and its hard to tell he is wearing a vest over his uniform. That's why I did two different patterns. I also like the two pattern look, like the US troops during the initial invasion of Iraq (desert uniform with woodland tac vests).

The only reason that was done is cause they weren't all outfitted with the desert uniform. That's not regular military doctrine. Plus don't help with camo in the desert when you have green on. But I agree with the rest. One camo version would be better than two.

I like the green camo. Ain't digging the black stick pattern. I agree with only using one camo pattern. Offset it with solids to differentiate between the BDUs and the vest.

I know, but it still looked cool.

I have an infinite number of figures to try different patterns on :)

I actually like where you're going with the two types of camo. Only thing I would do differently would be to reverse them...put the green camo on the legs, and the stick camo on the arms and torso. That way, he would blend nicely with the backdrop you filmed him with.

Awesome...now add the green camo to the 2nd try's legs and arms...hell...maybe even his head....also a metallic faceplate, and keep that grey for the details on the leg stripes and such.

I ended up sticking with a simple design. I will be mass producing these, and the time it takes to do one figure is long enough as is, no need to make it longer with complicated paint schemes.. The custom process is now complete. If anyone is interested these are available for sale as well. I have a sale thread in the Marketplace.
