That guy's name looks familiar. I found a note I had written a few years ago that had that name on it and info about a bad trade.

Wasn't he the guy known as 'Ben Reilly' on here a few years ago? Kept coming back with a number in his name?

If it's the same guy, we even had a thread where the mods asked us why people hadn't said anything to them about it. He was banned from here before...

Son of a... Good catch DJ. Insta banned. IP banned. Fraud abuse reported to all of his internet providers. I'm looking into legal action. I also stickied a thread in this forum with his contact information. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=29015

Late last year I traded an ROC Serpent Armor to him for a 25th Serpentor Air Chariot. It took him about 2 weeks to mail out, I wrote it off to him being busy with work. In Feb. he bought a white coat ROC Doctor and 2 25th heads from me for $6 and paid quick by cash in the mail. It looks like his practice is to do a few small trades, build up some cred and then rip people off. Whether he does this on purpose, I don't know, contacts with him make me think he's possibly mentally handicapped as he needs constant reminders about certain things and seems to be a bit slow and unattentive, but regardless of that I believe he's aware of what he's doing.

Thanxs, pluv.

I doubt that thread I mentioned is still around, but I know I was owed one figure from a bad trade. Can't remember all the details. I might still have the original PMs since I don't delete them.

EDIT: I found the PMs. I am owed two comics and a Zartan figure.

I sent this jerk a letter by mail yesterday. I informed him he'd been banned from the forum, that pluv had contacted his ISP concerning fraud and that if I did not have my goods in hand by the 17th I would contact his local police and would encourage others he'd taken to do the same. I do have a phone number as well that I may call.

police won't do ANYTHING about it.. its all under the radar cause its he said, he said....type of thing......plus its under the jail-able amount of money unless he's cheated someone out of a $1,000 worth of stuff at one time..... So just chill down and relax and let things take their course.. If nothing happens then chalk it up to experience. IF you want to go to his place since you think you know where he lives and you try to hit him or something along those lines you'll be put in jail not him.. Basically he's just a adult acting like a kid that don't want to grow up and wants to cheat people out of stuff and then probably sells it on evil bay. And your ranting about what your wanting to do won't help if it does get taken to court either. But don't see that happening as its under the amount that he can be charged with a crime.

I know better than to show up at his house or even make threats beyond reporting legal claims. But if I do have to go to the cops it'll be in person, they might take the complaint better if I do that than by phone.

Its PETTY theft... probably even less than $20. Cops won't worry about that. They'll tell you to go home and quit wasting your time... I really HATE saying that its spilled milk to them and they'll tell you to take it up with him personally and if he wont' respond then your out of luck unfortunately.
Basically you'd be wasting gas to drive there. The guys a dirt bag and we all know it.. throw it under the rug and continue one and maybe put the addy into your pm box from yourself that reminds you NEVER to deal with someone at that address....
Though still wonder how he can get mail with so many names at the same mail box........ :shifty: I tried sending something to Spectre's step-son and it came back cause he "didn't" live there supposedly... just cause his name wasn't in the box etc.

Actually you're wrong. Crime is still crime. And this is internet fraud perpetuated against multiple victims over the span of years. A single small bad transaction may not raise an eyebrow but a collective group of victims and the dollar amount goes up. Crossing state lines and using the internet raises the stakes as well as there are Federal laws that address this. For those reasons I reported the incidents to his internet provider, filed a report with the Milford police department, filed a complaint with the IC3, the Federal agency that is in charge of internet fraud crimes. http://www.ic3.gov/about/default.aspx

So if there is anyone else who has had Ben Reilly or Arnold Toht leave you hanging on a trade or sale, now is the time to come forward so your names can be added to the list for the reports and complaints. Hopefully you will finally get what you are owed.

^^^ Above

Once it crosses state lines, and multiple "buyers" it becomes a Federal issue.
Internet crimes are not a joke right now, it's a hot thing. Steven should either start posting, and start sending stuff, or expect to be
in deep isht.

Well, even so, it's if the police/whatever choose to investigate. I have not really heard great things about IC3, they seem to take matters more seriously only when they go into the thousand dollar range. Police sometimes don't want to mess with it or don't know how to. Granted, even if this doesn't end up causing him trouble, it might go on record should he ever end up arrested or questioned for similar.

I received back the items I sent to him. He mailed them yesterday, I got them back today. I'll contact pluv by PM with further details but as I have received the goods back I will personally not be pursuing any legal activity. I would suggest that anyone else with trade problems also keep in contact with him, you can send him a letter by mail if you can not contact by electronic means but he did return my original goods
