They should really use this to remake their whole online approach.
Welcome to 2012 and scrap the whole homemade site.
They should make a blogger site for their little news, get a ProBoard or VBulletin for their forum and get a shopping cart program for their store. Click, click and done!

Maybe somebody over there insists on getting things done their way and that's what brought this whole thing and kept the old site alive.

Now they're sending out email saying they advise people to have the credit card they used replaced. Trouble is, that's the same card I use for MattyCollector and changing a card for your sub over there is hell. It can even result in causing your sub to cancel it's self. They really screwed this up and I wouldn't even know how to pay for the con registration now.

I find it arrogant that their solution is to tell us "hey, change your card". No, I won't but I will hold you liable for any fraudulent charges and will file a class action lawsuit. This is out of hand. I was feeling bad for the club, but now? No...this is a problem with your antiquated website and antiquated security.

even if you change you card... would you really trust The Club with the new card info to register for the con, any more than you trust them with your current card for it?

seriously, I bet attendance at the Con takes a hit this year due to this disaster.

Note too that they won't move the date of regestration, and there was this post today on FB:

I think it's really telling how they pretty much dismiss everyone's conserns in the first few sentances and then make it all about them. I think they are trying to drum up sympathy (especially with the "We are people too and we need our jobs" part, that just reeks of self absorbed atitude that has been the club for years). I also think it comes across very badly and very self centered. I have yet to see any communication from the club on this issue that seemed genuinely conserned about their customers and I doubt they even care beyond getting money (ie "HARD deadlines" I mean they were quick to get that message out)

Makes you wonder if the issue is that they have one of those free machines you get from the bank to run credit cards and THATs what was stolen. That is an old way of running credit cards and it would explain how it's random attacks. The machine stores people's card number if you don't flush the data. Even then it might be a way to still get info if you know how to do it.

!! MY WIFE IS PISSED !!

i have been checking the cc since all this crap started, and how i was growing more and more nervous ...

today I forwarded her the email from the club telling us to change our credit cards!!

So, we have to change the credit card, which means we have to change the information for our daycare, for school lunches, for our YMCA swim lessons for the kids ... the list goes on.
