I just wanted to gauge the interest for this, but five or six years ago at JoeBattlelines, I held a G.I. Joe "Fantasy Draft", where ten of us participated in a draft where we took turns drafting members of the GI Joe team. It went just like a fantasy football "snake" style draft until we each had 18 members on each team. Each person uses their own strategy to assemble their team, and after they're all put together, a neutral party came up with various "missions" pitting one team against another (basically like the "Ultimate Battles" here). A poll was put up for each mission to determine a winner until we had a grand champion.

It was a lot of fun, and since we're in a pretty slow time for news and discussion, I thought this might be a good way to pass the time. Who's in?

This sounds very similar to something we've done several times with the Ultimate Dream Team Battles, so I can tell you, unless you have a drastically streamlined draft process, it's going to take FOREVER to build 18 man teams.

Sounds fun though. I'm in.

Just curious though, why 18? Would you consider a smaller team number? 18 just seems a bit... Unwieldy.

The missions, say we have player 3 and player 7, player 3 pits a mission against player 7, player 7 has to figure out a way to come away from the mission with a success?

ex:
MISSION: My team has taken over the airfield in Sierra Gordo, what are you going to do?

SOLUTION: Using a small three person team of Stalker, Recondo, and Lady Jaye, slip in and cut the security lines. scale the wall of the Control Tower and kill/capture those inside.

We did 18 because it forced us to get deep into the Joe roster. It was fun to see people have to make a decision between Snowstorm, Colonel Courage, and Red Spot to fill out the bottom of their teams. If everybody wants to whittle it down some, that's fine, but I thought it was fun at 18.

The premise sounds really familiar--I remember being obsessed with getting Outback on my team.

Not that I remember- I know we have the "ultimate battles" annually, but those can include anybody. I don't remember doing a Joe-only one, though I of course could be wrong.

If we could at least get one more- we could do it with eight teams...

I failed at UTB so this could be my redemption. I'm in.
