So my idea for the reboot of the October Guard is the following. The October Guard maintained their professionalism in a Russia that has increasingly falling to ruin as the government is taken over bit by bit by the Russian Bratva (underworld).

Rising above the ranks of the other Pakhan Vory (Mafia Dons) is the Headman - a American CIA spy that went rogue after being left to rot by the American government in a Russian Gulag. Using his many contacts among former soviet spies and CIA developed underworld contacts, Headman has brought a new level of crime and corruption to the motherland, with the ultimate goal of destroying as much of Russia (and American interests in Russia) as possible.

Headman is currently fighting it out with the Terrorist Organization Cobra, who is using the chaos of Russia's turbulent times to take over everything that they can, and create a solid foothold for their interest in Eastern Europe and Asia. They have the weapons, the training, and aren't afraid to match violence with violence. And anyone caught in the middle of this conflict will pay the price for these conflicting ambitions.

The October Guard, led by Col. Brekov, stands as a single bastion of incorruptibility in a world gone entirely mad. The Guard's goal of eliminating the destructive criminal element and topple the powerful Bratva at the top of it, gives him a status of rogue, even among his own government. Using his contacts in the Russian Army, and with the American G.I. Joe team, Brekov battles endlessly to recover Russia for the Russian people, and end the hegemony of criminals that have nearly destroyed the land he loves.

"To remain uncorrupted in a corrupt world makes you an enemy of everyone."

Chalk is based on the various pics of Airborne wearing a darker uniform during his Marvel introduction and this pic:

As Airborne operates the Weapons Systems of the Dragonfly, I needed a character to not only operate the Falcon Glider, but to train the other JOEs in it's use.

I like how you rendered that source material. That's a pretty cool airborne, and it's nice to see it get some life breathed into it.

Thanx, some of the rules I've given myself is to use alternate uniforms wherever possible, to also make character designs that would fit in with the early JOEs, and to have simple unique codenames. I have characters waiting on the perfect codename.

This one has a codename that I'm still on the fence about.

Banger, EOD, OG13 Reserves

Moved to England with his family after his Father was assigned to an exchange program. Has extensive background in all NATO and Warsaw PACT explosive devices and is considered the team's expect on Monty Python, Dr Who, and other 60s BBC television programming. His native Oklahoma speech is marked by a slight British accent.

*Since he has lived in Britain for some time, I figured he had developed a taste for British food, including small sausages. Bangers are small sausages and another term for firecrackers. This led to the double use of the word "Banger" as the codename.

Still keeping everyone up to date on the site. It's been a while, but here's maybe a new series of images featuring G.I. Joe characters as superheroes and supervillains. What do you think?

I feel that I will be coming up with a new codename for this one, as the one in the pic below feels more like 'Sparks' to me.

Ha! I didn't even realize that thread was there, but it's nice to see others have discovered Heromachine! I had enough fun messing around with it, so I started my own blog for them. I may go point that out in the other thread, too!

Hey folks, a while back I started up my own blog featuring my G.I. Joe designs using Heromachine. When I posted about it, I had no idea this thread was here!

FYI, here's the link to my site:
http://joeconcepts.wordpress.com/

And here's the thread I created about my site, which I may update from time to time:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=40872&start=15

Now I'll be sure to keep up with this thread, too!

I know that but he hadn't posted in that thread so was pointing it out to him... :-P

Welkin, you actually inspired this thread. :-) You started this, this is just where we continued your work.

DJ I was going to say that the pouches on his chest looked a little too big... then I saw the source material, and noticed that you shrank them down already, and in comparison your's are quite a reasonable size.

I do like Sparks. No idea why, he is just a poor man's breaker.

LOL the pouches are increased actually, I just used the cartoon version as my source material primarily. I *still* have to watch the cartoon DVDs I have (working my way through ST: TNG right now). I'm sure once I see the cartoon, I will have some more color ideas.

Cartoon Sparks has almost a cross between Scrap-Iron's vest and over sized pouches.
