If you could, could you please explain the difference between ratcheted shoulders and friction shoulders? I thought that the shoulders on joes were friction joints, and the ones on Transformers were typically ratcheted.

The pin part going into the torso is friction like joes. The "O" part connecting the torso to the upper arm is friction vs joes being ratcheting.

So imagine in the below example being a cross section of the joint. The I and --- are the same as joes but the O is friction instead of ratcheting.

Hope this explanation helps. I am sure there is a better technical explanation but it is escaping me at the moment. If you grab a Joe and swivel the shoulder that's the same its the motion outward that is different.

The diff is that TFs have actual ratchet mechanisms, while Joes and MUs have the same tactile feel by making the pin and pinhole a polygon instead of a smooth circle.
