Cyanide grew up with Kai Allard. As youths, the two were inseparable. What Kai Allard did not know was that his father was secretly grooming Joc to be a lethal assassin and protector for Kai Allard. When Kai joined Cobra, Joc joined as well but kept their friendship in hiding. They both progressed in the ranks and soon they were working together. In the battle that injured Kai, it was Joc that resumed control of the squad and helped mount the counter strike.

After Kai was promoted to Chief Military Advisor, he gave Joc the job of commanding his forces. As a field commander for Cobra, Joc still has strong ties to the Allard family. He took on the name Cyanide to remind those who ppose him that no matter how hard they fight, he will overcome, overtake and kill without remorse.
