Macleod Destro grew up in the rolling hills of the Scottish highlands with his family and had a safe and happy childhood free from the horrors of corperate warfare that had ravaged most of the world, unaware that his father -Robert Magnusson Destro and head of MARS- had a hand in most of the conflicts, supplying arms to mercs, freedom fighters and corperations in the hopes that they would destroy each other in the process. It was only when Macleod was 19 that his life came crashing around him when his beloved mother, Marie Destro was killed by AmeriCORP assassins in a failed attempt to kill his father.

A once happy and carefree Macleod quickly became consummed with rage and hatred towards AmeriCORP and vowed vengence on them and any other Corp who would cross the path of the Destro's.

Using this hatred to mold Macleod, his father brought him into MARS as a junior executive, Macleod quickly rose through the ranks and proved to be a valueble asset to MARS securing several major deals with other corps including a alliance with Cobra. He was promoted to Vice President of MARS after clinching the alliance with Cobra and flourished within his new-found position, much to his younger brother's dismay. Over the years, the rage buried itself deep inside Macleod and he learned to accept what had happened to his mother and moved on, until one day while doing some routine processing he stumbled upon a highly encrypted data files which were only accessible to his father. Curious as to why his father would go to such lengths to keep these files hidden, he asked one of his personal Tech's to try and crack the code. Six Tech's and two months later the code was finally broken, but Macleod was unprepared for what he was about to read. The files included detailed reports of illegal genetic experiments on civilians, purging small companies and other larger Corps by assassinating executives and their families, imprisoning and toturing whole towns who were'nt loyal to MARS and Cobra and building a battle station capable of wiping out whole cities from space. The last file contained a report of a assassination of top AmeriCORP executives and how they retaliated by trying to kill his father. Sickened by what he had read, Macleod began to realise what had happened and how his father had deceived him for all these years, in particular about his mother. He needed to avenge all these innocent people, but how? If he went against MARS he would be executed for being a traitor, there had to be another way. He needed to think and decided to take a walk in the Destro personal museum to try and clear his head. While walking through the great corridors of the museum he mavelled at the protraits of all the great and noble Destro's that had lead his clan over the centuries and asked them to give him the strength and cunning he needed to go against his father and put a stop to this madness. As he touched one of the portraits and glint of light caught his eye, his head turned toward the light to see the berrilium coated battle mask and armour worn by his great ancestor, James McCullen Destro and in that moment Macleod saw his destiny. One month later after biding his time and making new contacts within resistance groups through-out the world, Macleod stole the ancient mask killing and framing a loyal Iron Grenadier in the process. Making sure the body was never found, he leaked news that the IG had fled MARS and gone into hiding with one of the resistance groups in the Badlands. Macleod continued his role as V.P. in MARS unbeknownst to his father that he was leaking information and supplying weapons to various resistance groups including the Joes and sabotaging as many operations as possible from within MARS. Macleod now had a new path, a new destiny, and for the first time in what seemed a lifetime he felt whole once again.
