The Iron Grenadier program was first introduced more then two centuries ago in the days when MARS was run by the infamous James McCullen Destro. The idea behind the program was to select normal foot soldiers who excelled in their various fields and put them through a rigorous 6 month training schedule consisting of both physical and mental excersises that would take them to their limits and beyond.

Despite the huge 70% fallout rate the project was a success, turning normal foot soldiers into highly skilled commando's with expertise in everything from high explosives, heavy and small arms to espionage and assassination. The Iron Grenadier program has continued through-out the centuries to the present day and has been made tougher and tougher by each generation of Destro. After two years of intensive training the survivors of the program are then given genetic and cybernetic enhancements to improve their speed and highten their senses, in addition to three centuries of battlefield tactics being uploaded and stored within a hyper dencity microchip located near their brain. The Iron Grenadiers primary role is to protect all members of the Destro clan, in addition to being the elite vanguard of MARS.

Additional: They have infra, heat, motion and atmospheric sensors located within their armoured suits and head gear and come equipped with the most advanced weaponry available, culminating in a very deadly group of soldiers who are mentally and physically superior then most of their opponants, with the firepower and numbers to back it up.
